BYE Week Musings: Guess Cam’s Next Contract

By this time we should have the new contract rules in place with the new progressive salary cap. By 2019 the NFL and NFLPA will agree on a whole new structure. My prediction is teams will have percentages of the cap allocated to positions and not players. this will allow them to ground these irrational payouts that are happening and provide fully guaranteed contracts to all players with clauses of course.

So far the only decent analysis. Whatever the outcome, Cam is headed towards a record setting payday.

Cam is not an accurate passer; when he loses his legs, he is done.  He is still a great QB, but I am not sure a long contract at 31 is going to pay off--having said that, He will get 3-year, 91 million--unless he slows down over the next few years.

Folks, Cam takes a beating and is tough as  a bag of nails.  Eventually, the bag gives and breaks due to the constant pounding--I am just not seeing him evolving into a pocket passer.  Maybe with Norv for another year, that will change--

I would watch what we do in the draft in 2020 or so--if we grab a QB....

Are you saying Cam can't get the ball near the receiver without running towards them or are you saying, that he is only a running QB. Logic would dictate that to be 1 of 32, and a MVP/OPOTY, you'd have to have a functional level of accuracy.

Whats hes saying is that when the ground aspect of his game fades and teams no longer need to fear and game plan for it that it will have a negative affect on his passing game as well.

It's going to be fuging ridiculous, especially if his last 4 games going back to the playoffs last year are the new norm. Probably $120+ million guaranteed.

Also anyone who thinks Cam can't play without scrambling needs to go watch the tape last year from the Patriots and Lions games. He was a statue in the pocket in both those games, stayed between the hashes on almost every pass, and diced them up.

I have never clowned Cam. Now Jake yes.  But to expand on my reasoning. Cam will probably go to Atlanta. Hometown home team. It won't be anything personal.  But I can see it happening and would wish him well. Excluding against us.

It is worth noting that we have an owner whose habit is to set a value on something and absolutely not budge from it. Who's to say he doesn't apply that same standard to player contracts? That'd fit the "Steeler Way" that he talks about applying here.

I know people would absolutely fly off the handle if Tepper were to play chicken with Newton (the honeymoon would definitely be over then) but we might have to acknowledge it's a real possibility.

If, for example, the Panthers use a high pick on a QB next year, that'd raise some eyebrows.

Bruh. Cam throws high sometimes that’s it. It’s not a decision making fault or an inability to process a defense.  If anything when he loses enough speed he’ll be like Big Ben . And probably more precise then ever because he’ll have to be in order to help the team win. That’s Cam. He does what helps the team win.
