Ron says we good at safety

This clown has been riding Cam’s coattails for far too long

Yup. Every coaches success is linked to their players to some degree but damn. Classic case of a below average head coach who lucked into generational talent and yet still finds the path to ride the .500 train. Needs to stick to positional or coordinator duties, at best.

The second half of our schedule includes Lions, Saints, Bucs, Falcons and Steelers. All those teams have extremely good WR's, and I get the feeling that the offense will bail the defense out and Ron will decide we don't need a serviceable safety. Then when it comes to our final stretch where we will need a pivotal win against the Saints, the safety will get abused and cost us.

Purely coach speak. I do not know people expect Ron to say here. Knowing the culture in that locker room, Ron saying "so and so is awful and we need to replace him" does not align with the team values.

If indeed Ron feels that Gaulden is not ready, they will bring in another player. Not just that, Hurney would bring in another player for workouts.  Ron has already stated multiple times this year that he is not going to give as much information as he has in the past.

Also, why tell other NFL teams what our plan is. Him saying what he did about getting DJ more involved is all starting to come together as Ron playing chess. Might be Turner's suggestion, but it appears to be working.

it's hilarious watching this incompetent staff and front office continue to waste prime years off of generational players like Cam and Luke who fell into their laps because they refuse to put even serviceable players at positions like OLine and secondary that have huge impacts in today's league

you say this as if our offensive line is struggling....

Ron also refused to give our best OL in years a chance until injury. He cannot evaluate talent. That or he will not. It's not that Gaulden isn't ready, he can't be worse and he has a higher ceiling. Jones has "put in the work" and that's why he's where he's at. he "gets the system"

Seems to be the case sadly, we're sitting on hidden goldmines. Then when we finally decide to play them, they have a break out season and get paid elsewhere.

Did he not bench Jones after that TD in the game? I believe we will start Gaulden week 5.  I slightly agree with your first sentence, but he had a chance to put amini in the game two weeks in a row now and has elected not to. I personally believe him hyping amini was a smokescreen for other teams to game plan form amini. It may be hard to see because we all know Ron too well, but I really think Turner is helping him coach because there are some new behaviors this year I have not noticed before.

Actually our hope at this point is that all the free agent signings continue to poo the bed and it's enough for Tepper to show Hurney the door.

I hope Hurney understands that this team has to be successful in order for him to have any chance of being retained long-term. If I'm him I'm straight up telling Ron that if he values Colin Jones' presence in the locker room and considers him a core special teamer, that's fine. I can respect that. But if he continues to trot Jones out there at safety I'm going to he forced to make a move to eliminate that possibility.
