Coaches overrate their own players far too much and Rivera's a classic example.

All he has to do is watch any other NFL game and the safeties actually contribute. Not just stop the run and are 12 steps behind a receiver. They get interceptions, hits, pbu....like what I wouldn't give for a decent safety

This could be a smokescreen; it would not surprise me at all to bring in Reid this week.

I very seriously doubt it. The names available haven't changed. If we were going to bring in someone it would've almost certainly already happened. Southward signed to the PS was our safety move.

Just accept it and get used to it. Safeties don't matter to this staff.

Anyone who watched Colin Jones play and says their happy about it is either A) Colin Jones' own mother B) doesn't understand football or C) just plain doesn't give a fug about the play at safety.

I think Ron's philosophy is that if a safety has to make a play then everything else broke down. Which let's be honest, that's oftentimes true. But those other 31 teams consist of professional football players coached by professional football coaches too. There are going to be plays every single game where everything else does break down and you need those safeties to make a play.
