Just rewatched the game, I have thoughts.

my thoughts on Obada: He looked great out there, fast, strong, and mean! But, I hope it wasn't another Delaire moment where the opponent had never even though to watch what little tape on him was available, and he never shows up again. - I AM NOT TRYING TO BE NEGATIVE, JUST CAUTIOUS.

That was the guy's name i was trying to think of. Have a feeling this is another Delaire.

Delaire was a little light coming out of college (under 255 lbs, I think).  When he put on weight in the NFL, I think he lost part of his primary rush weapon which was speed.  So he flashed with speed early when he was smaller, but when he grew and lost a little speed and the NFL got tape on him, he was done.

Obada isn't only heavier than Delaire was (at 265), but he's also longer (in body and reach) than Delaire was (6-6 compared to 6-4).

Delaire was a player that didn't quite fit the 4-3 DE ideal and tried to change to fit into it.

Obada fits perfectly into the 4-3 DE mold.  On top of the fact that he already has the size and length AND he has the speed.

So will Obada be a long term success?  I'm not saying that (though I hope so).  All I'm saying is that a comparison to Delaire isn't a very accurate one IMO.

One of them was high. It happens. Tom Brady overthrew Dorsett yet no one would remember it. Cam’s gonna miss some just like the Brady’s, Rodgers, and Brees will.

I don’t have a gripe with saying he’ll have moments. I do have one with people thinking this is a consistent issue when it’s probably as much overthrows/incompletions as any other good QB in the league.

Funchess and Cam had a big miscommunication. Funchess tried going for the back-shoulder while Cam assumed he was still committing to his go route. That’s where Cam bombed the ball into no man’s land.

The one to Torrey Smith on the first drive should’ve been caught. It was catchable. And yes, it could’ve been placed better given the direction Torrey was going. I remember reading an analogy from another person. It’s like Cam hit the backboard for a three pointer instead of swishing it in. Both got the job done, except one looked less pretty than the other.

That’s what happens when you watch yo criticize and not appreciate. No QB throws perfect passes every time. Some QBs miss high, some miss low, some miss wide. It’s about the complete game. Not nitpicking every throw. We don’t do that with any other player on the roster.

Is that why you took a dump on my OP bud? Lol

I certainly hope that it's a poor comparison, and think that Obada has the tools necessary to succeed. My Delaire reference was more to the point that I doubt that the OC for the Bengals had him on the list as someone to worry about.  The rest of the NFL has now been put on notice.
