I absolutely LOVE it when people have the audacity to judge how much people donate.

Please tell me what % of your income your donating?

I’m sorry, I don’t mean this to come across as a personal attack either.  But I freakin hate it when people judge the amount someone (usually higher up people) donates.  Any donation is a positive. $1 million is a huge help and trying to discredit it is ridiculous.  Even a dollar donation is better than nothing and should not be negatively viewed.

And the article even says “initial aid”, as in they very well could donate more.

But I’m sorry him donating ONE MILLION doesn’t “impress” some of you.  I wasn’t aware helping those in need was about impressing people.

The Panthers are also working with the CAREolina t-shirts where all proceeds go to the relief effort. My guess is that they're covering the costs. Over $153,000 raised so far. Over 7600 sold.

PLUS, from the article:

Quote

-$450,000 to regional food banks by providing 25,000 emergency food packs

-Aid to high school athletic programs impacted by storm damage

“The David Tepper Charitable Foundation and Carolina Panthers Charities are working with frontline partners across the Carolinas to provide aid and critical resources to help communities begin recovering in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence,” said Panthers Owner David Tepper. “This will be an on-going process and we are continuing to evaluate the regions’ needs with the goal of assisting impacted communities return to normalcy as quickly as possible.”

Tepper doesn't want to just throw money at the problem. That never works well. His strategy seems to be to find nonprofits working directly with those needing help. "frontline" So if you think he's finished addressing the needs, he's not. It's not a race. It's not a competition.

Thank you, David Tepper.

See above Teppe rd million is less than a buck to you and me.  Does he have to give anything? No .  But if you do for God's sake be sincere as to your means.  Million to Teppe r is as sincere concern as trump in New been yes terday.

My sincerest apologies for your troubles.

I will try to remain sensitive but objective with this. As someone who has endured great hardship in my life and has watched those around me that I love go through some terrible things—no one owes you or anyone else a thing.

If he donated $5 he is doing more than the vast majority of folks, including myself. I will most likely donate in the near future but hell, I’m just a new graduate with 185k in school debt that I obtained with the sole purpose of helping others through my career path. The government nor anyone else thought that was enough to cut me some slack and I will be paying off my debt for the next 25 years.

Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. I would encourage you to focus your energy on what elevates you and your family. Best wishes, my friend.

How is % of income a relevant qualifier when you could be speaking of an extreme difference in overall networth.

If you really want a fair qualifier, base it on overall networth combined with expected lifetime networth.

David Tepper has billions and just purchased a 2+ billion dollar sports team.  His expected lifetime income is billions more.  This 1 million may equate to a small percentage of his income this year, but it doesn't take from the fact that he is very well off and will likely never have to worry about money for the rest of his life and his future generations.

Compare that to a person with a average networth of around 100k, which is .005% of 2 billion.

So, David Tepper donating 1 million is roughly equal to someone with average networth donating $50 if you just base it off 2 billion networth without the massive amount he earns in stocks each year for doing nothing.  And, that person likely doesn't get recognition in the community and people defending them against realistic views.

Did you donate 50 bucks?

What on earth are you trying to say here? Did you read anything in the thread or in the link?

Did you read and comprehend my post?

50 bucks would be comparable if David Tepper only had 2 billion.  He has 11 billion net worth at last check and his expected lifetime and future generation's lifetime is much higher than the average persons.

1 million - David Tepper his networth of 11 billion equates to average person net worth donating $9.

That $9 also buys him this thread, the newspaper article, and people commending him around the town.

If I got all of the above, I will donate $9 happily.

I’m right here in ground zero for flooding. As an electrician working an area with over 3000 homes with flood damage I am acutely aware of the needs.

I also know that these rich people and their millions never make it to those who need it.

if you want to help send QO120s and HOM230s and 200 and 400A meter bases
