Marvin Lewis talks about Luke

Heard a discussion on Charlotte radio this morning about an interview Lewis gave, he was asked what he thought about Luke and Lewis saId he was the best LB he has ever seen/worked with coming out of college.

Remember that Marvin has had the HOFer Ray Lewis on his team and that he was a LBer coach for awhile. Pretty high praise and a reminder that even the great ones have bad games.

I tell people all the time that Luke is the best LB that I've ever seen, and I've been watching this game in earnest for 42 years (46 if you count that I actually started watching at five years old).

pfffft... look at this Luke Stan!  A Lukan? Stuke? Cankley?

j/k

Luke is a generational talent.  Undeniable.

Multiple teams have said Luke is calling out the play before the snap has ever occurred.

Add the ability to diagnose a play before it happens with his speed and amazing tackling skills it is not a wonder he is the best in the league.  A good portion of his interceptions are because he knows the route the player he is covering is running and is just there.

You can argue that some might be better at certain areas than Luke but none of them have the entire package that Luke brings to the game every week.

Luke is the DeShone Kizer of linebackers.

(remember Kizer is Brady's intellect with Cam's physical attributes)

So does that make Tom Brady the John  Daily of quarterbacks???  Or maybe Peppers is the Donald Trump of the NBA??? cheech_marijuana_car.jpg_cf.jpg.761e970061fa8a8a7740df2efbb645b9.jpg

I am not far off from your age and have been watching since the late 70's. I have come to the conclusion that Luke very well might be the best overall football player I have ever seen. I am no Marvin Lewis, but I am also no Panther's homer.

His intuition to be around the ball and to know what is coming is unlike anything I have ever seen. Panther fans are lucky to have two exciting players on both sides of the ball in Cam and Luke. Both are so entertaining to watch and it's not often that a team is just as exciting to watch whether it's the offense or defense on the field and that is a direct correlation to those 2 players.

I'm a few days older than the Superb owl. Watched as long as I can remember and was all was a big defensive guy. my biggest heroes was usually the linebackers, watched some great ones. and I agree

You guys remember when we had a great MLB named Jon Beason, and we drafted Luke anyway, and everybody was like, "Who TF is this Luke guy?"

I know I did. I learned fast after the ravens preseason when he blew through the line and blasted the running back

Anyone who didn't know his rep from his BC career wasn't paying attention, and I don't remember any 'who is he?' posts. What we got was 'we don't need no LB!', and 'WTF are they thinking!?'

It didn't take long for the complainers to say 'never mind', assuming they fessed up to bitching about the pick.

So in other words, he who must not be named for the Bengals is a product of his coaching?

Burfict? I think he was an a--hole already. Seem to remember teams getting that vibe in the pre-draft process.

That said, he's not the only a--hole on their squad. They have a few, and that probably tells you something.

There were reasons why guys like Burfict and Pacman Jones felt comfortable playing for the Bengals (and likewise why the Bengals endorsed them). It's kinda like watching a Jeff Fisher coached team.

We won't be facing Burfict on Sunday, but his absence doesn't mean we shouldn't watch out for dirty play.
