The 2 worst teams in the league have former Panther coordinators as their coaches

George Siefert coached in Carolina and looked like a lost puppy. You aren’t guaranteed success just because you were good somewhere else.

Siefert has always been a lost puppy, he was a shitty HC that inherited a great team. He was the 49ers Barry Switzer. Dumbest more Panthers have ever made.

That's really only the last couple years that it's been like that, but I'm in total agreement that Ron is a much better coach than fans and especially the huddle give him credit for.

This has always been one of the toughest divisions with of exception of one year.

AFC North had 3 playoff teams with Big Ben, Flacco and Dalton all when they were playing great. NFC West has had Wilson, Kap(I know but he was really good a couple years) and Palmer. AFC West with Reid coached Smith, Manning and Rivers. A few different divisions have had their run at the top the last 7 or 8 years.

Flacco, Dalton, Kap, Palmer and Smith were never consensus top 10 QBs. And if you wanted to put their teams in the Cam/Rivera role as the team playing against the top 2 top 10 teams, who many times did they win the division against the top 10 guys? The Panthers have done so 3 of the 7 full years.

I mean this division has had both Matt Ryan and Drew Brees in it then entire time he's been coaching the Panthers. What other coach/team has won the division more or even equal to Rivera/The Panthers with 2 top 10 QBs in their division?

2 of the Top 10 QBs in the division and Ron Rivera believes, with today's NFL rules set the way that they are to protect QBs and WRs and disadvantage pass defending, the way to beat those 2 Top 10 QBs is to play defense and run the ball and *not* score as much as you can.

Fugging GENIUS.

No wonder his coaching tree looks like its been treated with Spike 80DF.

Most guys who become head coaches fail. It's a total crap shoot really. Anyone think Ron would still be here without Cam and Luke?

Anyone really think a prick like Belichik would be in NE without Brady? Same for Payton and Brees.

Belichik has talent as a coach. The 2008 season Brady went out in the first game, they went 11-5 with Matt Cassel at QB, though they missed the playoffs. I think we all saw enough of Cassel later to say it wasn't just his amazing talent at QB that carried them. Brady is a first ballot HoF QB without a doubt, but I can't say that all of New England's success rests solely on his shoulders.

Saying Rivera would be a terrible coach without Cam and Luke is also foolish. Coaches and players complement each other.

I don't know what the hell McDermott is doing in Buffalo. He had a competitive team last season and got rid of like half the players that made the team good. Gotta give Wilks some time down in Arizona, that team was full of old vets and gonna be some time before he can turn them around behind a young QB.
