It wasn’t after one kick though, it was after his poor overall 2016... Last year we punted quite a bit when we could’ve attempted field goals, but it does appear Rivera is once again either more trusting of Gano or just more aggressive. Which is a good thing, and Gano is a solid kicker.

Honestly the thing I hate most about Gano these days is his contract, but what are you gonna do? We can do a whole hell of a lot worse and I was thrilled to see him have a bounceback year last year after the horrible 2016 he had. 

Glad to see Rivera actually utilizing Gano's cannon leg too on a try longer than 50. Need to see more of that this year.

That 54 yarder was perfect. Gano's bad year he was dealing with an injury. He is fully healthy now.

That's truly astounding. The most Gano moment I remember was last year's playoff game when he missed a 19-yard FG, but made a 56-yard FG later in the half.

He definitely played a major role in us losing the Super Bowl as well as the game-losing miss against Denver in 2016. I was shocked when he converted to beat the Patriots in New England last year. Definitely a big moment for him here.

We should thank him for missing enough easy field goals against TB in 2016 so we could move up in the draft order and get a better player.

I guess what I'm saying is that Gano is by no means a bad kicker. More often than not, in the clutch, though, he's been known to morph into Zane Gonzalez.

This. People forget about the procedure or even  how reliable he was prior to his single season of concern.

Gano gets a lot of flack for missing some big kicks but so did John Kasey. Gano has a very good leg, he booms them from all over the field. Palardy should get some praise as well, looked extremely athletic on the accidental bad snap. But he is a very under appreciated punter. 

Hats off to the legs of Gano and Palardy! Also the Panthers have a terrific long snapper that likes to get in on the action. Keep up the good work you 3...if you read this!

Coulda, woulda, shoulda.... There were games we should have won (Bears) and games we should have lost (Jets, Bills)...

Even if we somehow did get to 12-4 and had at least 1 home game in the playoffs, I wouldn't have trusted them to win a Superbowl with how wildly inconsistent they were last year.
