Christian McCaffrey on record-setting pace ... as a receiver

I said it when we drafted him McCaffrey should be our starting slot WR. If we made him a full time WR, he would be prime Wes Welker with more upside. Instead we run him up the middle like he is some sort of power back. It's sad we are wasting his true talent as a WR.

Let me hear it?

Running attempts:

Falcons: 32

Carolina: 18

2 completely different use of the running game, the team that was consistently running won the game aka ATL.

Falcons where running the ball consistently unlike the Panthers getting 6.7 YPC  & wearing down the Carolina's defense as the game went on. You do know all of those chunk yards play came after a running play via Play -action or outside tackle run. The main reason for the explosive plays was due to worn out Carolina's front 7 that led to missed tackles & missed alignment....that's the effect of a running game's physicality.

Everything Ive posted today agrees with that--- you are arguing for some unknown reason except to say we would win if we had one guy carry 20-25 times.  Had our defense been better for two half touchdown drives, the game would have been different.

The part you are missing though is that the falcons scored a 2 minute touchdown for the half, and then again to start the next half-- those chunk plays stopped a lot of running for the second half----

yes the chunk play passes came after Coleman broke the first 30+ yard run on us,...that wasn't from wearing anyone down-- that was good game planning by the falcons,... and Tevin Coleman.

You also realize that Coleman only carried for 16 rushes right? They werent wearing anyone out by rushing-- it was the fact we couldnt stop big plays at all.  Ryan got into 3rd and 10 and 3rd and 14 type of situations and we allowed 15 yard plus plays all day, even on obvious passing downs.

I actually wouldnt be against that. CJ Anderson is averaging over 6 yards per carry too. Dude must be pissed hes not getting more carries lol

To CMCs credit, hes averaging 4.8 ypc this season which is pretty good. And hes bouncing off tackles .That was my main concern with him last season not being able to break tackles

Just to be clear, im not saying he can't play rb. Im just saying he would be more effective as a slot WR. There is no doubt in my mind he would be a 1000 yard WR if he moved over full time. Every time I see him catch a ball he reminds me of Wes Welker.

I agree with that-- CJ only carried 3 times,...had 33 yards on the Falcons but that was it?  WTF,...

We are using a WCO type of approach doing short throws to CMC, 14 this game, so those are supposed to be our "carries" I guess. That only works though if theres some big plays too.

I do agree with many we need to run more, only had 16 total carries against the falcons---- we have no big plays, and we could have more off play-action if we would let CJ average 6 yards a carry at least 10-12 times a game instead of 3.

You’re not making any sense, Coleman had almost the same amount of rushing attempts as the whole Carolina’s offense.

ATL running game was controlling T.O.P for 3 qtrs until they started playing prevent defense in 4th qtr. something like 65% vs 35% for Carolina.

All of those chunk yards came off Play-Action thanks to a consistent run game.

Jesus-- go play by play again smart guy--

Falcons 3 point scoring drive-- Coleman,.. 3 yrd, 27 yard run,... 2 carries-- there was a 5 yard carry from Matt Ryan in there,..

Falcons next drive punt-- no carries for RB,... gee they are wearing us out with their running game,..

Falcons 3rd drive,.. coleman 3 yards, pass -2 yards,.. in comp to ridley should punt-- oh wait, PI on Jackson 14 yards---, Coleman 36 yards(fumbled), I smith 6, then 4 yards, then -2 yards--- RIdley 11 yard TD.  Coleman 2 carries-- 4 carries total on the drive-- 36 yard chunk play.  again, oh my God they are killing us, defense must be totally gassed.

Half 2 minute drive--- Coleman 6 yard, 1 carry and only of the drive.

Half-- so total carries by the half-- 7 carries.  Gee, they are wearing out our defense? No dummy-- those 26 yard runs, 2 of them and the PI call are,...

3rd quarter---

1st drive ends with int-- 3 2 plays-- both long Jones passes-- no carries.

2nd drive from the atl 42,..coleman 3 yards-- OMG, I smith 13, then 17 yards back to back, coleman 6 yards.  10+ yards rushing for me is a chunk play,... 2 in one drive,..

just now to 4 carries for the 2nd half.

Atlanta next drive after another punt,... 1 carry for Coleman, 1 for smith, we are now at 6 carries for the 2nd half after 3 drives-- they punt defense must by DYING,...

Panthers have touchdown-- 24-17.

Coleman-- 5 yard, 3 pass plays, smith 8 yard, smith 5 yard(fumble), Matt Ryan 8 yard RTD-- shame on the Panthers Defense,...

Just now up to 9 carries for the half--

I stop there-- if you look, out of 16 carries total up to that point, and 6 rushes were for more than 5 yards,... 4 for over 15 yards, 2 over 20, and 1 for 30+ Coleman had his biggest--36 yard 7 minutes before the half-----

The point is, the falcons got bigger run chunks and were much more effective running the ball than the Panthers.

So you are right about the Falcons being able to run,.. Panthers suck at running consistently in chunks so they short pass-- but NONE of those and only 1 of our runs were over 20 yards,...1.

I havent added the Falcons passing big plays.

The Panthers didnt have the clock controlled by an all out rushing effort on 7 first half carries and 16 by the time the Falcons were up 31 to 17,... the Panthers failed to get big plays, failed to stop the Falcons for big plays.

wow man, exhausting, I must be really bored.

We have a long thread on how cmc and our offense could have been better but the fact is the Defense cost us the game because they couldn’t stop anybody!

Exactly,..

We keep all this going back and forth, long posts on what killed the Panthers-- but as I just posted, we started giving up 26 yard runs the Falcons first drive and just kept on---

When a team can do that on just about every drive,.. that opens up chunk passing plays.  Our defense failed to stop the run,.. especially the ones that count, the big ones-- and failed to stop the big plays period.

That has nothing to do with the mix of throws to rushes to Christian McCaffrey-- we had no ability in the first half until our touchdown drive and mostly afterwards until Wrights touchdown to do anything but pass to Christian,... but our offense sort of exploded the last 4 drives so I believe Norv will open the offense up.

Our defense sucks-- thats our problem, plain and simple--- 70% anyway.

Stop lying, Falcons offense controlled majority of the game until 4th qtr when they started playing prevent and let the offense drive down.

Falcons: 29:42

Panthers: 30:18

The Falcons longest rush of the game came when the Panthers were up 10-3. 2nd quarter with 7:13 left. Try again on how I'm wrong. lmao
