The most disappointing thing about Sunday was the offense's reaction to the headshot on Cam

Just what they showed on TV tbh. I'll admit, you guys that actually attended had a better view so I can't speak on what transpired outside of what they showed and replayed.

I only saw it on tv too. Can't make it too the games anymore because of bad back and neck. ( ironically because of fighting, football, and other stupid stuff. lol) I've also watched a few replays with different camera angles.  don't have the "live at the game" perceptive. but I honestly don't think most of the players knowed what happened.

At this point im not caring about the game and i think thats why he shoved him instead of hitting him. I dont care about the yards bc guess what the game still went on. WE lost period and even if it was a deciding factor I am glad to see that someone showed their distaste for that hit. The team should have responded better than they did and pulled out the win but they have become soft like i been saying we need some grit out there period.

.  The idea is to move the ball TOWARD the opponent's goal line.  If you are doing something on the field that causes the ball to move AWAY from your opponent's goal line, it is bad.  period.   There is no situation in football when it is good to move farther from the area in which points are scored for your team.

Can I say something to make this concept less ambiguous?

Disagree. Players need to hold other players accountable.

Just like in hockey if someone hits your star it’s up to you to hold that player accountable. Either that same shift or the next you must make it be known that it won’t be tolerated and hopefully that guy or whoever has second thoughts next time they want to take a run at your star.

A penalty doesn’t do sh!t in the big picture, you take the offsetting majors to make a point. If more guys were willing to stand up for Cam like Torrey did Sunday in years past and now, maybe Kazee doesn’t even take a shot at Cam there.

Same applies in baseball. Someone hits your star, whoever is up first that next inning better be ready to take one in the ribs.

No one should give a crap about 15 yards when it comes to head hunting your star QB

Sorry, probably should have clarified that.  I didn't even mean here on the huddle necessarily.  I was referring to all my social media Sunday afternoon/evening.  Falcons fans were saying that the hit wasn't dirty and that if Cam runs he needs to expect to get hit like that.  All kinds of people (Panthers fans and fans of football in general) were calling them out, but they maintained they saw nothing wrong with it...

Oh come on, lots of falcons fans were saying it was dirty and he deserved the ejection and the fine.

Smith should have been ejected as well. Along with Takk McKinley

Smith was specifically not ejected because he was retaliating. Official said that as he was explaining what was going on.

Ok well I was at the game. Cam new KZ was coming and again KZ was pure wrong. If KZ was laying on top of him, taunting him then yes by all means. Push him away. SMITH targeted and maliciously went after him. Like a coward in my opinion. Anybody can cheap shot somebody  from 15 yards away and not know your coming. Tge one who truly protected his team mate was Ricardo Allen. He played on top of KZ to protect him. Not maliciously trying to hurt someone else. So those of you who think this is right, what Smith did. I'm sorry you feel that way.

Some people make comments on here and reveal that they never played the game--as a player,  you have a job to do.  If the QB is running, you are looking for people to block.  If you see him get hit and he draws a flag, you do NOT jump on the other team's player to get revenge.  That hurts your team and does not undo the damage inflicted on your QB.  Nor does it discourage others from doing the same thing later--on the contrary--they feel that they can hit your QB and get an offsetting penalty when some renegade decides to punch a helmet with his fist because he has applied street justice to the rule book .  It is a lack of discipline, nothing more.  The opponent is wearing a helmet and padding that is akin to armor.  Pushing him down is not painful.  Punching him is not painful (to him).  If you think pushing the Falcon player down was Smith making a statement, you are right.  "I am a veteran who does understand how my actions adversely impacted my team.

There is a place for intelligence on the field, especially when something like this happens.  Smith was stupid.  Cam  still went to the tent, the Falcon player was not phased or hurt in any way by Smith's brutal push.  We lost yardage for no reason.  If you want to praise Smith, you don't understand the game.

Find a single YouTube video of a quarterback taking a killshot that didn't lead to retaliation from his teammates to the guy that did it.

Refs and coaches hold other players accountable.  Vigilante justice only hurts your team, not the other team.  Nobody on any other team determined how I would act on the field. They did not intimidate me or motivate me in any way.  The only thing that matters is the scoreboard, and if you hurt your team's ability to score, you are a liability--it makes no matter how violated you feel.   Chest pounding and macho finger pointing do not show up in the stat sheets--except in the penalty column.  Football is a game based on military (offense, defense, lines, bombs, bullets, etc)--where discipline is preached above all else. You may not like seeing your buddy get shot, but if you lose your composure and the remaining members of your platoon are put at a disadvantage as a result, you have done nothing but show your arse.
