The most disappointing thing about Sunday was the offense's reaction to the headshot on Cam

This seems to happen to Cam quite often. If someone on the team retaliated and did the same thing to opposing quarterbacks they would think twice about it.

And what, cost us 15 yards and get a player ejected? It was a late hit but Cam was running full speed and he's twice the guys size. Kind of hard to stop yourself in a split second when you're getting ready to lay a hit down on a guy that big.

Yall are bloodthirsty today lol

When Cam nearly had his head taken off, the only person on the team willing to do anything about it was Torrey Smith, a guy that just got here in March. None of the guys on the offensive line did jack poo, in fact, someone held Smith off Kazee. Ryan Kalil has been here forever and didn't do poo. Devin Funchess didn't do poo. Christian McCaffrey didn't do poo. If a killshot like that had happened to just about any other QB in this league, there would have nearly been a bench clearing brawl. Yet our soft guys just stood there and didn't get the Franchise's back against a division opponent.

The head coach of this team is Ron "I Would Have Taken A Shot Too" Rivera and you're surprised by this?

Thank you OP for post - this was in my thoughts too.  On the one hand I am glad are guys showed restraint and possible more penalty's, but I didn't understand why everyone else - especially our defense - didn't see red and get some pay back.  I fully expected Ryan to have his legs taken out.

Now - the emotion is gone and I am glad that didn't happen...don't want anyone hurt - but some evil part in me is still hoping the Falcons get a dose of their own medicine.

I saw that too.

People not taking it to the next step shouldn't really be considered a bad thing. A fifteen yard penalty wouldn't exactly have benefited us.

Worth remembering a big reason we lost that playoff game to the 49ers a few years ago was because they successfully kept baiting our players into penalties.

There’s actually a defense team for Kazee’s hit on Cam. You can not make this poo up anymore.

Yeah, that's poo is still happening in Cam Year 8 but its the Cam DEFENDERS that are the "irritating" bad guys, baw.

Kazee got ejected, and deservedly so. I'd consider that a plus.

I absolutely want our players to stand up for each other. I also want them to be smart about it so it doesn't get used against us the way the 49ers did.

I'd add that calling for us to retaliate by hitting opposing quarterbacks in the head is completely off the mark. For one, that's just wrong. From a practical standpoint though, that gets one of our guys ejected and makes it more likely we lose. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face...

Beyond that though, we just watched our defense give up a long rushing touchdown to Matt Ryan. That doesn't inspire a whole lot of confidence in me that we're effectively hitting the quarterback even in the legal way.

What game were you watching? Quit making this more than it is.

Torrey cost it’s way too much yardage. The ejection was coming and we all knew it, and a fine will be as well I’m sure.

League has confirmed that he will be fined, but not suspended.

That probably starts a whole other discussion :Eyes_Emoji_42x42:

Yep, that’s why I immediately made this thread...

Had it not been for Torrey setting the tone after that shot it would’ve been the exact same sh!t we see every time Cam takes a head shot... crickets.

Funchess is the definition of soft and it’s been that way since his Michigan days yet people on this board (who haven’t played a minute of sports in their lives) think it’s a switch that can just be flipped, newsflash, it’s not.

Fine and ejection was twice as much as any player headhunting Cam in 2015 was receiving. I’ll take baby steps in the right direction.
