For those of you down on Luke's performance..

My brother is a Bears fan and I don't even think he's on the playoff hype train quite yet.  They will need to beat GB and Min at least once to have a shot.

Vikings are tough as well. I think they had GB right where they wanted them and not too worried about that loss. I predict they’ll definitely be in the mix as will MN when week 17 rolls around

Is the NFC really that good?

The Rams and Vikings are scary, and the Packers might be as long as Aaron Rodgers can stay healthy. The Eagles also might be if Carson Wentz can get healthy.

Beyond that, the Bears have a great defense but kind of a suspect offense. In our own division, the Falcons look good, but I'm not yet certain whether I believe in the Bucs fast start or the Saints slow one.

That's pretty much it for teams that would give me a legitimate concern, and I don't really know how concerned to be about the teams in our own division yet. Yeah, the Falcons beat us, but they also looked beatable themselves in the process.

What other teams worry other people?

Kalil Mack is laughing at this.

so....are we now declaring 2 games now makes you the best in the game?

Dang, didn't know Patrick Mahones and Ryan Fitzpatrick are now the best two quarterbacks in the NFL either.

Mack is a stud.  He has been a beast to open the 2018 season.  Mack doesn't have the work in to be talked about yet as the best defender in the NFL.  Watt, Kuechly, Von Miller, etc got the work in for someone to mutter such things.

You act like Mack just got good or he's a rookie. He already was dpoy and this is like his 4th season. He has been among the top graded every year at his position.

I'm not acting like Mack isn't good or is new to the scene.   Just saying Mack hasn't been in those talksyet. Some of that has to do with the fact he also is younger than everyone else I mentioned.  But his 2018 start is at a level we haven't' seen yet from him and he has had some good seasons.

and yeah, then bringing out the KC QB and Fitzmagic was a bad look on my part.  Mack didn't deserve that.

I still don't think he to date has shown to be the players Luke, Watt, or Von has.  But we are also getting to the time someone like Watt might be replaced by someone like Mack

The homerism is real in this thread

Eeehhh, I don't know about that.

The thing I always ask when I'm comparing players of differing skill sets is which one can come closer to doing what the other one does.

So can Luke rush the passer?  Sure he can.  Luke has both sacks and equivalent tackles for loss on his resume'.  Not as many mind you, but that says less about his ability than it does about how he's used. Even though he can blitz and blitz well, that's not the best way to use him (or any 4-3 Mike linebacker, for that matter) on a regular basis.

Can Khalil Mack do what Kuechly can do?  Aaaahhhh, that's a no. You're not gonna hear opponents talking about how Mack knew what play they were running when they got to the line, but that's said about Luke on a pretty regular basis. Kinda doubt you're gonna see his DC dropping him into coverage all that much, either.

I know we don't wanna be homers, but this is a legit statement.  You want a pure pass rusher?  Mack makes sense. You want a better overall defensive player though?  That's Luke.

You don't see Mack dropping into coverage much because that would be a waste of his time. Rushing the passer is the single most valuable thing a defensive player can do.
