Sounds like Ron is morphing into RiverBoat

Yep. And I think we're so hesitant to deviate from that because we don't trust our safeties because we constantly rely on bargain basement vets back there. We don't have a reliable over the top deep third safety to serve as a last resort TD saver.

Rivera always has, and probably always will, put far more faith in pass rush than he does in coverage. That's just who he is.

Nobody should really expect that to change.

And that's exactly why N.O. and Atlanta continue to carve up his defense. They focus on trying to get the ball out quickly against us to negate our pass rush and take advantage of DBs giving a ten yard cushion. Continuing this same approach against these teams will only continue to produce the sale results.

lol@ Ron's stans...."but but but playoffs." "Remember that time we went to the super bowl!?" I remember losing in ATL something like 6-7 out of 9 trips, giving up 350+ per. I remember getting embarrassed 3 times by the Saints last season. I remember Broncos players saying we didn't do anything differently in the super bowl than we had all season. why? RR is a reptile when it comes to repetitive behavior. All things have a sunset....looking@ you Ron.

personally, i think he's ok if we lose those 4 games every year. No other way to explain the continual ownage from division rivals.

What happened yesterday is the same thing that's been happening virtually every time we play the Falcons or Saints since the end of the 2015 season. They carve us up because they know exactly how to exploit the weaknesses of our D. Yeah, Luke didn't have a good game by his standards, but even if he plays like Superman those two teams have the tools and scheme to eat our D up and they've proven it time and time again.

agree and disagree.  They carve us up in the air...yes.  But they had several BIG gains on the ground that should of gone for minimal gains or stopped at the line.  Luke makes those tackles every week regardless of opponent and in Atl.

Sure seems that way. We certainly never attempt to adapt schematically and then we act shocked when we get carved up yet again. Like, really? We really didn't see that coming? We need the Falcons and Saints to basically beat themselves in order for us to win the game.

Pretty much. West Coast systems were specifically designed to attack heavy pressure defenses. Both the Saints and Falcons run variations of that offense.

If we either don't have the guys to cover close or don't put them in the right positions, we're really screwing ourselves.
