What happened yesterday is the same thing that's been happening virtually every time we play the Falcons or Saints since the end of the 2015 season. They carve us up because they know exactly how to exploit the weaknesses of our D. Yeah, Luke didn't have a good game by his standards, but even if he plays like Superman those two teams have the tools and scheme to eat our D up and they've proven it time and time again.

Soft limp dick coverage, aka the Rivera Special.

Yep. And I think we're so hesitant to deviate from that because we don't trust our safeties because we constantly rely on bargain basement vets back there. We don't have a reliable over the top deep third safety to serve as a last resort TD saver.

well that and he can't literally make every single play. He isn't the only one playing defense out there.

The dline was getting blown up all game long by the falcons oline. LBs job is extremely hard if he's constantly getting his Dline pushed back into his chops .

Which brings up another possibility that I haven't really seen discussed yet.

I think it's at least possible that Dontari Poe isn't quite the monster we were all expecting him to be.

I don't want to get into an "everybody's fault but Luke's" scenario because that kind of thinking isn't valid, but after the first few games I have to admit I have some questions.

I haven't heard the press conference yet, but instead of just sounding angry, I'd feel a lot better if I heard Rivera taking responsibility himself rather than constantly talking about someone else being the problem.

He needs to start owning it.

Him not accepting some responsibility has been one of the hallmarks of his tenure here.

And we have a new owner who probably doesn't have a lot of tolerance for that.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it the WR coach's responsibility to sub Moore in on plays or does Norv really control what WR's are in each play.

I thought the playcalling was great, the game would look a lot different if Funchess and Smith executed the way they are supposed to. Funchess killed 3 drives alone if you go back and watch the game. Smith was really bad until the 4th quarter when he made some good plays.

He is the best coach in the history of this team. We won the division 3 years in a row. We went to the playoffs 4/5 of the past years with a super bowl appearance.

But you know, one loss and the sky is falling!

I wouldn't say we "won" the division 3 years in a row. The second year we crapped the bed a little less than everyone else, but we still crapped the bed.

I also wouldn't say the sky is falling, but some damn consistency, other than an undying loyalty to playing vets when there is better talent on the bench, would be a refreshing change of air here.

We had one other coach of note and River has perhaps the two best players in team history on his roster lol

Lol at the Rivera complacency.

The Panthers have at least two hall of famers in their prime and can’t even put together back to back winning seasons. And lol at winning the division at 7-8-1 or whatever. Give me a break.

Ron is a mediocre head coach at best. Thank god Tepper is in town because I’m sure he won’t put up with standard Rivera bull poo for long.
