Funchess played 66 snaps. Moore played only 17.

I got no actual issue with Fun getting healthy reps as has a specific skill set no one else does.

But yeah, it makes zero sense not to have DJ Moore getting legit reps.   Ron should be fired for saying getting him involved slowly was the plan unlike what other coaches say.  Moore should get more reps than Wright, Smith, etc.   We need him to grow and he can make legit plays.  Who cares if he isn't where Ron wants him.....no other WR on our team turns his TD into a TD.

Cam can't just check down to CMC every week.  CMC eventually going to get hurt with that gameplan each week.  Too big of a load on CMC.  Need playmakers.

If I am Norv.....Moore plays a poo ton.  If we lose we lose but the gameplan is to throw to Moore and Ian Thomas over and over.   The rookies need more action coming there way.   I'll take losing if it means we are trying to win with dudes that can make plays.

Bodily language etc....Cam is sick and tired of not having playmakers on the field.

This is literally infuriating.  I'm not a Funchess hater like most of the people on the board, but he's a possession guy.  We need the home run hitters on the field every day.

Except he doesn’t have the “possession” hands like a cotchery or even wright.

Funch will be fine imo.  The team is trying to figure out how to deal with losing G.O.  Give it a couple of weeks and either G.O. gets back out there or the team adjusts and guys start figuring out how they fit into the big picture if G.O. can't go.  Cam will get more comfortable with his new receivers, etc.  Let's not jerk our knees completely out of their sockets after week two.

With that said, I think Funch would be best used lining up on the right side and running the seam and corner routes that G.O. normally runs.  Cam is very good throwing down the middle and to the mid-deep right, and having a big target out there would help considerably.

Damnit, you people have short memories! You talked all kind of poo last year about Funchess, then he went on to do what he does and was moderately successful at it and amazingly you shut the hell up for two seconds. He has it in him to be a productive receiver, but he'll never be Smitty. That's not his game.

He was 55th last year in target separation, which supports the entire world’s argument.

It’s not his strength, though it appears it’s improving statistically thru a pair of games this year.

Then again, those are high-level analytics.

Ron and John Fox come from the same school of thought. Play the vets and don't use your brain.

I swear NFL coaches do the dumbest poo sometimes. They need just an average football fan on their staff who, during games, will say "Hey coach, this is a little stupid, maybe try this." Whether it's not running it in the Super Bowl when you have Marshawn Lynch on the goal line, not designing plays to get David Johnson the ball, or trotting out mediocre talent like Funchess and Torrey Smith instead of playing DJ Moore. We can all see that Moore needs more play time but for some reason Ron can't see it (or doesn't want to).

i agree , professional coaches that get paid millions of dollars will still do dumb poo that 99 percent of regular people would not do . Or even worse just never try to adjust after their plan isn't working.

Its rare for us to have a receiver who is currently 15th in separation and on pace for 900+ yards and most of the forum wants him gone lol. Hes also been the most accurate target for Cam this season of Smith, Funchess and Wright. But lets not get facts in the way of hate.

Yep. We have to put him in situations to succeed.

Part of this lack of “deep pass” deal is Cam reconditioning his mindset into the new offense.

There’s been a clear emphasis on efficiency and situational management.  I don’t think Norv has Cam’s balls in a jar, but it’s a process. You want 69% passing, you gotta take a few less shots downfield. You’d have to get an in-depth film view of 2018 route design concepts to see if Norv is limiting deep shot options for Cam before the snap.
