Shaq Thompson is starting to concern me a lot.

The upside to spending a pick on him was always "well at least we've got one less hole to plug when TD leaves" but there's a substantial drop off when Thompson is in there in Davis' place and I think it hurts what Kuechly is able to do as well.

Maybe you just accept the drop off and build elsewhere. Maybe that's even for the best. But after watching Davis and Kuechly completely dictate games for so long from the LB position, that's a tough pill to swallow.

In any case, I don't think we should be rushing Davis out the door. Let Thompson develop as much as he can.

There’s enough sh!tty teams in this league that at the end of the season our defensive team stats will always look good.

But this organization is so clueless and lives in the past that it still builds a defense like it’s 1950. This is a pass happy league and we have ZERO secondary. Look at Jacksonville and LA, stacked secondaries and most likely the majority of you couldn’t name a LB’er on either team.

We continue to pour all our resources into our front 7 and get picked apart by all the playoff caliber teams with good QB’s.

So don’t let the stats fool you, when it comes to playing the best this defense typically gets picked apart and we’re left asking Cam to score a bunch of points with f*ck all at the WR position

I agree with what you said, I just wanted to say Myles Jack

  • What exactly was the difference in the game?  One could argue it was rookie CB Jackson. A (bad?) interference call vs. Jackson, a missed tackle on Jackson, and and a TD vs. Jackson-all on the same drive.  I am not down on Jackson--he is a rookie.  I am excited about him.
  • Cam was incredible--32 of 45 for 3 TDs for 335 yards and he rushed for 42 yards.
  • Smith alone had 33 yards receiving.  He had 25 yards in penalties. How much are we paying him for 8 net yards?  I know he had a TD--how many of you were a bit surprised he caught that pass?
  • Lotta folks down on Funchess,  but if you took this game as his average, he has a 1200-yard season. He caught 7 passes on 9 targets for 77 yards.  That ain't bad, but you could argue that a #1 WR should get more targets...Julio Jones caught 5 balls for 64 yards on 9 targets, fwiw.
  • Jarius Wright caught 5 passes on 7 targets for 64 yards--he has caught 8 passes this season--half of what he caught last year in Minnesota.
  • I am starting to wish Matt Kalil were back.
  • Van Roten may not be the answer at LG after all.  Pity because RR is still looking to validate his role in selecting Amini in the second round.
  • Moton is fairly solid wherever he plays.
  • Thomas is coming along, but this offense without an elite TE is like a hand without a thumb.
  • Bradberry was solid vs. Julio.  Some of you invested a lot of time this offseason bashing him.  JB made Julio an average player.  That'll do.
  • Most of the yardage was gained when Shaq Thompson  or Mayo were playing WLB.
  • When was the last time you saw Munnerlyn make a play?  a tackle?
  • This to Munnerlyn, Smith:  At some point, you have to make a difference.  Check your check--we are paying you to produce.
  • Not sure Vernon Butler is going to get much better.
  • Cam led the team in rushing....again.  Anderson had 31 yards, on 3 carries.
  • Where is Armah in the passing game?
  • The panthers went on the road with a LT that was holding a cardboard sign a week ago, 2 reserve guards (essentially), and our all-pro TE on ice.  We lost by 7 to a team in the Super Bowl in 2016.  We should have lost this game even if we executed
  • While Atlanta averaged 7.4 yards per play, the Panthers averaged 6.8 yards per play.
  • The Panthers had 7 penalties for 49 yards and Cam was sacked twice for 17 yards.  That is 66 yards vs. Atlanta's 26 yards in the same 2 categories.

1. I'm patient with Jackson it's just some people here already think he's the best DB on the roster. poo takes time. BTW it was Bama vs LSU last year and clearly Bama got it.

2. Cam had MVP day. Not sure what his rating was.

3. I was screaming and shitting Smith but after the retaliation and the TD and he had another good catch, he just needs to get more involved and that may have to do with Cam not looking his way. The first half for him and Dallas game were awful.

4.  People poo on Funchess but besides a drop, he's a possession receiver normally doing what he needs to. Does he deserve the pay day yet? No.

5. Wright is our best receiver and is everything we could have dreamt of.

6. Clark played better than any Kalil game, FOH.

7. Van Routen is the depth we need, not the starter.

8. Thomas had a terrible drop, later made up for it but his impact was minimal.

9. Bradberry was AMAZING vs Julio. You even said it yourself, Funchess had more production than Julio did. Julio is just that good at making grabs but jesus his coverage was amazing.

10. Everybody wanted Shaq's dick last week and now want him cut. Make up your mind. Luke still had a worse game by far.

11-13. Unless Corn steps up, Captain is going nowhere and I still think both him and Smith come down to locker room presence. As for Butler, it is what it is until his time is up here.

14. Anderson needs to be in on the red zone offense if not just split out with CMC. You brought him in here to replace JStew but you treat him like CAP.

Did anyone else notice Funchess continuing to go to a knee to catch the ball? I know the commentator pointed it out on one but he did it another few times after that. Seems like something you do when you have no confidence in your ability to catch the ball.

Yep it’s the same thing when Samuel leaves his feet to catch/fight the ball.

I wish we had nortman back. We are paying Palardy to produce and he is just not cutting the mustard. He had 3.4 revolutions per second on his punts and the NFL average is freaking 5.3 rps! What the hell is Rivera thinking putting that guy out there??? I also noticed he had a butt pad missing from his pants, what kind of leader is that >?>?>?!!! Need to trade for josh gordon and eric reid, let them audition for punter/LT and move on!~
