NFL.com now says "completion percentage isn't everything" after Cam's 71% game.

Point blank, most people just dislike Cam Newton because he is having fun playing a kids game.

Yes, he does.

Usually.

Yesterday, he wasn't having a lot of fun.  You could see it in his face.  I think the weight of carrying the entire damn offense on his shoulders FOR THE EIGHTH FUGGING YEAR IN A ROW really weighed down on him yesterday (though it didn't affect his performance).

And Cam not having fun is a really, really sad thing to contemplate.  Ron Rivera is well on his way to ruining the kid.

No, but his mention about completion percentage was unwarranted. The media been pumping up his completion % bullshit and in a loss just had to mention it being irrelevant for whatever reason whether we lost or others didn't perform as well

The rest of the section is so receiver/other player negative, with a bit of Cam positive, that I think this was aimed at the people that harp on Cam's completion %.

But who knows with the media.

And you can honestly say that if they DIDN’T mention his completion percentage whatsoever, that people wouldn’t be upset?? Then the narrative on here would be “Wow the media loves to criticize Cam’s completion percentage when it’s low, but now that he’s averaging ~70% in the first two games, CRICKETS”. That’s why you have to take what they’re saying in context. What they said in that article is a perfectly valid statement: they highlighted that Cam is completing a high percentage of his passes but saying that doesn’t necessarily correlate to an efficient offense. In the context of that statement, they said that the run game wasn’t working and that our receivers weren’t helping him out whatsoever. Yet somehow that equates to them hating on Cam...

Well first off the media isn't a big fan of Cam, he gets more hate than love. I watched Cam put up numbers for his 1st seasons and we didn't win, so they dismissed it. His numbers dip, but we're winning he needs to be more consistent and get better numbers. It's a lose lose

We the fans didn't create this narrative about completion % and keep beating on it, the media is. We all know Cam had a good game, it really doesn't need to be pointed out honestly like its an anomaly. Cam been carrying this offense for years running and passing. So yes, the mention of it was unwarranted at-least to me cause I'm tired of people talking about it. The offense did enough to win, the defense just sucks

We go to the Super Bowl behind Cams super season and much of our team success was given to the defense.

Cam has 380 total yards and three touchdowns and we lose, the defense gets no admonishment. The media isn't there to prop Cam up.

They flip the narrative to say look what Matt Ryan did to that good defense lol.

To me we do not have a good defense we shine on defense when we play meh or some average joe team. Luke is wearing down trying to compensate for inept players. Guys that are younger and should be quicker are not doing their share of work.we do not have enough playmakers on defense to help Luke out Davis is getting slow. Peppers wearing down. We have 1 fast CB who is a rookie. Bradberry is no playmaker. Backend is just slow and just reacts to the opponents 4 men surrounding a wr and no one takes any risk to intercept the ball just standing around. I miss norman bc he played the ball most of the time and not the wrs.

Its what I pointed out in the game thread yesterday, Ron Rivera is completely and utterly wasting and crapping on the NFL careers of TWO (not one... TWO) once-in-a-lifetime players in Newton and Kuechly and its fugging tragic.

The vast majority of coaches throughout the history of the league have never had the advantage of having a single damn once-in-a-lifetime player on their roster.  Ron has fugging TWO and he is utterly clueless.

Yesterday wasn't on Cam. The receivers, veterans, played poorly in the first half. They miss TD. Luke was trying to cover everything himself, he was overcompensating for bad LB play, even missed crucial tackles. They exploited the LBs all day. Not naming names but if they're elite players they'd have the ability to have Luke's back yesterday. #26 had his back though, the rookie. Poor effort, lack of focus, poor awareness.

Yes he is wasting their talent and effort. He is getting by off of thoose players talent. Davis and Short are good too. Olsen and preconcusion trai were good. I have said it before we should have moved on from Shula and Ron a long time ago. Its hard bc everyone else sees who should be playing in games in moments but him. He is just not getting it done period.

Isn't that with 6 drops too? Thomas, Funchess x2, Anderson, I feel like there were 1 or 2 more too.

EDIT: Wright had a big drop too. And I don't know if Torrey Smith technically had a drop, but he had a really bad effort on a pass in the 2nd quarter.

Wright had a bad 3rd down drop in the first half when Panthers were driving and killed the drive.
