would you like to bet on if pats get that 7th round pick?

5th or 7th who the f*ck cares right?

Its not like we’d make use of either of these ones. Hell we rarely make use of our 3rd rounder, would’ve been fine shipping that to Cleveland.

How this is even a debate is mind blowing

Doesn’t matter. Gordon is one of the best if not the best wide receivers in the game when he’s on the field. You take that chance with a 5th. He would change our entire offense for the better. And if he gets suspended? You lose a fifth. It’s worth the risk.

If he's genuinely that talented, his being available for that low a price makes me think there's a reason.

I've actually pondered whether or not it would be worth the risk to Marty Hurney. If you know this is your audition year, a move like this could be seen as a "swing for the fences".

Of course if it bombs and the owner was on the fence as to whether he wanted to keep you or not, you probably need to minimize anything that might tip the scales in the wrong direction.

Would Hurney have made a move like this if he were more secure in his position?

I would have taken him for a fifth straight up without the conditions. It's worth the chance just to give our mvp QB one of the best receivers in the game

We don’t know how to use our first rounders either

Dumb. With the general disregard we have with 5th-7th round picks (especially under Hurney) and Gordon's non-existent cap hit, its absurd we didn't trade for him on this one. If he causes trouble, just cut him. Who cares. Our late round picks never make a difference. Its the equivalent of a 2nd rounder in the NBA.

You're right. The pats, eagles and niners, who were all interested, are all run by idiots.

Hurney and Ron are model decision makers.

The Pats and the Eagles have had success. They can afford to gamble.

But putting the 49ers in that group? John Lynch isn't exactly Executive of the Year just yet.

To make room the Pats are releasing Corey Coleman.

Id gladly kick the tires on Coleman as a consolation prize but I’m sure even that’s too much to ask

The only question I'd have is if you sign him, what receiver do you cut to make room? We're not keeping seven.

I'm gonna assume Torrey Smith, but you may say otherwise.

The Eagles success is few and far between but since they have a rabid fan base in a sports city they've always been comfortable with potential moves like this.

I don’t see how this is a swing for the fences deal if it was just for a 5th. That’s low cost, high reward to get a game changing freak. And we’re not just talking a number machine, even tho he is. Dude is clutch in the 4th quarter of close games.

Byrd is done as soon as a viable option becomes available for punt returner. Torrey was insurance because Samuel and Byrd dealt with injuries last year and ironically both are out and it's only week 2.

Samuel is a special case but nonetheless he still isn't on the field

yeup. I was getting flamed for saying stuff against them in the offseason but look again , they are both out of the lineup.

There's been a lack of information on whatever's going on with Samuel too. We're just going to have to wait for the injury report i guess and hope its different.
