Is it just me, but...

I hear a lot of people on here complain about how few touchdowns Jake has throw, his number of interceptions, etc... but I think Fox's whole idea of "stats are for losers" has some truth to it.

Fact is, in order for us to win games --- the plan is real simple --- RUN THE #@$%in BALL! When we run, we win! We take time off the clock, move the chains, let our defense rest... it all comes together.

We didn't run against Philly, Atlanta, or Dallas. Against, Washington we showed signs of life towards the end, moving the chains, getting a first down and playing the clock to our advantage. Again, Tampa Bay... the 4th quarter showed how effective our offensive game plan can be when utilized properly.

Granted we aren't running against teams great at stopping the run. BUT if this is what it takes to build the confidence of our offensive line, I'm all for it.

Once again, this team is built on proper CLOCK MANAGEMENT and moving the ball. The team prefers short gains, whether it's a run or a short pass, up the middle to a tall receiver or tight end. You score, you wait, you score, you wait. That's how it works.

Going deep for a loooooong bomb and quick score, destroys EVERYTHING we work for. Our defense doesn't rest well, they play poorly and the next thing you know, you're in a shoot-out. Our goal is to keep the other team playing our style of football.

Again, just my two cents here. BUT you don't need a great QB to run the ball and move the chains. You need a mistake free QB, which Jake can be as long as we run the ball a lot and force defenses to come inside and spread our our receivers, which makes interceptions less likely. Rather than throwing into coverage, which is what Jake is forced to do, when our offensive line isn't generating holes for the run game and defenses knew we'll pass, because we have no choice.

I guess, I'm old school but I feel the offensive line is the most important part of an offense and when ours clicks, we click.

That is the problem with Jake, he throws 17 passes last week and 2 of them are to the other team, one for a score. That is why people are bitching, because he cant do his job no matter how little is asked of him. You have to have a threat to beat you passing in order for the run game to work against good teams. That is what we don't have right now. One dimensional offenses can't beat good teams.

Stop with the logic. Some people might think you are weird.

i hope your right.. but i still feel jake has lost some of his mojo. Maybe he had to much on his shoulders when we didnt have our running game in the 1st 4 games

What do you guys expect Jake to do? We got one legit WR, shitty play calling and a bunch of asshole fans such as myself. If they take away Smith all we got is our running game, long passes to Moose just don't always work. Moose has lost like 3 steps plus he was never that fast anyways.

I expect Jake to throw accurately once in a while. Can't blame anyone but him for those errant throws, especially the ones that resemble a flying mallard.

    • See, there's this whole thing about get your "Franchise" QB and you're golden. Except, well, it's crap. Look at the Jets, year after year, trying to draft that dude, never hitting. Then they go out and wrangle Aaron Rogers. And they're still crap. Why?  Because they haven't built a team. Their o-line is suspect, their defense is leaky.  A QB isn't the answer, until you've got the rest of your units up to at least middle of the pack quality.  Think about how long it took us to get right after drafting Cam. Phenomenal talent, impactful player, still took four years of team building before he took off. And on the other side, if you build a strong pair of O and D lines, then work hard at developing your skill players, someone like Jared Goff or Sam Darnold can come in and have success. Brock Purdy can get you to the Super Bowl. Trying to find your "franchise" QB at the top of the draft isn't a luxury pick, it's most often a wasteful pick. Get you the best d-lineman, tackle or linebacker in the draft.
    • I like Landon a lot, I believe he is going to be a beast at the next level and can, more than likely, get him in later rounds.
