Does Funchess deserve a Payday?

If he doesn't do better than he has, he won't. Measurables are good and all, but they're not the holy grail for an established vet when considering giving them top tier money, production is the priority. And for size to be that important, a receiver has to play to his size on a consistent basis. Funchess has not been top tier ever (like A-Rob), he has been modestly successful one season. As such, his payday will be a reflection upon that and what he does this year.

I cringe a little when people even refer to C-Mac  as a receiver, much less a number one. Just saying.

Funchess has never been more than an average WR. I am not sure why any Panthers fan is surprised by that. This is his fourth season with the team and he has never at any point looked better than average. The attempts to make him our #1 WR never made much sense to me.

Funchess is what he is..he is not garbage but we are trying to make him a #1 and that simply is not what he is..DJ Moore should be starting but y’all are going after the wrong player..he should be starting over Torrey Smith

 

What a terrible trade that was and not because we got rid of Worley but because we took on that contract for a guy who cannot play anymore

Picking up Torrey was always about getting a vet who still had a little speed that more importantly could stay healthy.

He was insurance for Samuel and Byrd both of which who are hurt again not even two weeks into the season. I know Samuel's was unexpected but it's still another case of him not being on the field.

Statistically, he had 7 catches for 77 yards on 9 targets---Julio Jones had 5 catches for 64 yards on 9 targets. 

However, when Moore caught that pass and exploded for a TD, I think we all got a glimpse of the past (Steve Smith) as well as a glimpse of the future.

Exactly.  When RR decides that Moore should be out there too, we will be fine.  I am very excited about Wright--he had 16 catches last season in Minnesota--he has 8 in 2 games here.

Where are all those guys who were trying to put shaq in the HOF after last weeks game? Hell im ready to see what jermaine carter has at this point because Luke has no help either. If he doesn't make the tackle then other team is probably picking up 15 yards at least.

It's not the Funchess stat like that bothers me (that's decent) it's the timing of his drops and exerts effort.

Funchess was the only player I saw Cam chew on the way the sidelines, as he should’ve, for not doing his job

he is not now, nor has he ever been a number one receiver

All you need to know is that its a contract year for Funchess and he still doesn't seem to give a $hit
