Larsen: An unused asset with a fresh multi-year contract

We signed Larsen to a nice 2-year extension and the guy has spent half his career (college+pro combined) at guard.

He's shown to be a good fill in for Kalil, so why not have him be the primary backup at G as well?  It gives flexibility for the type of situation we are in right now.

We could be working a line like: Moton-Van Roten-Kalil-Larsen-Robinson/Clark this Sunday but we're smashing Amini in our faces again.  Let's say Turner comes back next week and then Kalil gets banged up, slide Larsen back in to C.  He helps maintain consistency in the G/C primary capacity.

Are we just dedicating Larsen 100% to C since he'll likely take it over next season?  He's a completely capable Guard that we aren't using and don't believe having him 100% at backup center does anything special for him.

Donde Larsen?

I think they’re trying to protect him for the back up C role, which I’m honestly fine with.

Yep. Sad Ryan needs insurance like that. Larson should be starting at C, backed up by Roten and R Kalils salary and the rest of the cap should be going to Norwell but meh what can you do, it’s Hurney.

It's not "insurance"  that in the real world only Ryan Kalil would get. Every team does the same thing, protecting important positions.

Disagree. Very few successful team’s backups play as well if not better than their starters, especially starters who’ve played less than 50% of snaps the past two years and make 5x as much, and could save money buy cutting them. Roten can play C and I believe I is perfectly capable of backing up Larsen.

Yea, but that does not play as well to those who love to throw shade at Hurndog.

Not about shade it’s recognizing the same reasons he was fired by a man who adored him rearing it’s head. If you think R Kalil was kept by Hurney purely for football reasons and what he can offer this team for its future well what can I say.

Sorry but there was absolutely no reason to keep R Kalil over starting Larson, that’s my opinion and observation.
