The Carolinas are getting smashed by Florence.  One thing that unites us are the Panthers.  The team will be emotional tomorrow, playing for both states.

The coast got smashed. It's been pretty tame for me personally in Charlotte. Some wind and it's been raining steadily all day, but overall it's not that different from a standard wet weekend. Only real difference is my power has flickered multiple times today. But my power goes out way too easily anyhow, so whatever.

Spartanburg here. It has been a little windy, and sprinkled off and on. The good news for us on the power side is that we are on the same grid as the hospital. So, even if we lose power, it usually comes back on rather quickly.

I live on the river. Thankfully, they have fixed most of the dams up river in the last 10 years. But man, there is a whole lotta rain acomin'.

I don't live on any body of water, so my worries are gone now. It has still been raining harder tonight than during the day. Regardless, we will wind up getting 2-3 inches less than forecast. Hope that river by you doesn't become a problem.

I hope emotion is enough to will us to victory. We're actually getting picked in alot of places to win and I hope theyre right. I just don't see it yet. Hope I'm proven wrong cus if we can win this game, we can win anywhere anytime.

Don't know where u have really seen us getting picked alot. I've only seen one pick us and I'm going to say I don't see us winning either. We don't play well there and oline is terrible. Plus Atlanta coming off bad loss at eagles. They will be ready from extra rest and get to play at home. I hope Panthers prove me wrong but not counting on it at all.

    • i think i go in the opposite direction of most. my ideal retirement is living in some old downtown area in a flat above some shop or something.  life out in the country was just something i got real tired of. My kids actually miss some of living out there, which i understand. that was where they grew up for the most part. 40 acres with a 2.5 acre pond. it was beautiful, but also way too much (and too expensive) for me to keep up with.
    • FLASHBACK: I remember back when ESPN was just starting--he was their anchor.  They used to show stuff like Rodeo and field hockey--I remember laughing when he went to a commercial mocking a cycling competition in Utah (or something similar--I made that up) and I laughed.  I told my dad, "We may have us a new anchor when we get back from commercial."  When they came back from commercial, Berman was looking very serious and he said, "Any comments by me do not reflect the views of ESPN....The men and women who cycle are dedicated athletes and we are honored to shine light on their sport." (Paraphrasing).  Dad laughed hysterically. My first memory of him--and that was like 1980.
    • Might not have a team without them. Although that probably applies to the Panthers, too.
