Speaking Friday on WFNZ's ProwlCast with Nick Wilson and Josh Parcell, Delhomme was given the opportunity to provide his thoughts on the situation the Panthers' offense currently faces, as well as their upcoming opponent in the Atlanta Falcons.

"I have no worries about Cam, I'll be very honest with you," said Delhomme. "We always want to put quarterbacks in certain buckets or tiers or whatnot. He has to be in his own tier, bucket, conversation by himself because no other quarterback can present the kind of problems that he can just because of his sheer size and strength.

I think this Atlanta team's still a very good football team. Two crushing injuries for them this week, which is definitely going to hurt them. But this is a very good football team, that the last two times in our memory watching them play, they struggled, but they struggled against the World Champions."

I've always respected and liked Delhomme. 2003 was an exciting year.  He speaks highly of Cam. The article gives no indication of how he calls the game Sunday. I hope the Panthers keep him around more.

Wise translation,...

We have no idea what will happen with this matchup,..

The Falcons just lost, so they are looking to rebound, but they have key injuries. The offense is on notice for having 5 straight passes in the endzone for notta.

The Panthers handily defeated Dallas, the score just didn't reflect the stomping, had all fieldgoals and extra points gone through it would have been 24 to 10(i doubt Atlanta goes for 2 on their touchdown had we been 17-0 going into halftime).

The Panthers are on notice without Olsen and half the already suspect Oline, and have to get the receivers a lot more production.

Both teams can win this game, history in the dome says Falcons, but we havent seen the new receivers get settled in yet either, the offense still has some games before their rust, new players, and coordinator really get the new identity ironed out.

If its this game, the Falcons go down,... if its still rusty then it will be close.

Jake had a great run for us.  Even when we had injuries he was always in charge.  Had he not destroyed his arm who knows how long he could have played.

Jake was a gunslinger and Smitty benefited greatly because of Jake.  Jake had no problem throwing to SS regardless of who or how many was covering him.  Gunslinger mentality.

I think my favorite attribute about Jake was his tenacity. That was one man you didn't want to piss off.  There were a couple of games where someone pissed him off and it was GAME ON.   I love that about him.

Though born and raised in Louisiana.  He is a Panther for life.  He loves this team and should be in the ring of honor.  At minimum the Panthers hall of fame.

I would love to hear him on game day calling the game.

All this.

Plus, it’s a shame Jake is not broadcasting or with a TV network. He always has good insight and perspective that is much better than the network guys that have number crunchers and interns analyzing stats.

Very smart football guy.

Jake didnt have the skills these other QBs do, but damn it, he had heart. We had great runs in '03, '05, and '08.

That Arizona game destroyed his career. It's a shame. We had alot going for us that year.

It was very cathartic to embarrass the cardinals the same way they did us in 15.

    • I didn't say much bigger. Watch the highlights I linked. Bryce doesn't have the arm strength and/or talent to make the vast majority of the throws Mac made in that video.
    • Tetairoa McMillan.   The last 28 1st overall picks were either a QB, DE, or OT. Seeing as I don't think we'd take an OT in the 1st and give up on Ickey as an LT yet and there doesn't seem to be a clear overall #1 type of QB or DE pick this year, it very well could be a non conventional #1 overall this year, at least in regards from the last almost 3 decades of drafts. If we didn't have Horn, I'd be more open to Hunter as a CB at #1, but we have him so another CB wouldn't be how I'd use a #1 pick.  And as much as I love Legette, if we have SB contending aspirations, I don't think Legette is a #1 on a team like that, but he damn sure is an elite #2 on a team like that.  He's more of the Smith/Higgins/Waddle to Brown/Chase/Hill (in terms of role/impact, not style of play of course). T-Mac is going to be the top ranked WR on every team's board in the end.  He is going to be a true outside #1 WR who is viewed as a consensus Top 5 WR in the game by his second contract in the same way guys like Jefferson and Chase have done.  His height combined with his speed, athleticism, and hands are near impossible to find all in one player, there is a reason his generally used comp is Mike Evans (although as he's not as thick, I personally see him more as an AJ Green). Yes, as an Arizona alum I've admitted to having bias towards the player to begin with.  But he's also someone very widely being put into the Top 5 in mock drafts lately and most of them have him as the first non QB offensive player being taken, so it's not really THAT much of a homer pick on my part anyways. If a QB or DE truly separate themselves as being a can't miss prospect come draft day, I'm open to that discussion, but until then, or if it doesn't happen, T-Mac is my pick 100 times out of 100.
