  While I agree with not keeping Smith, I’m almost positive his salary is already set after week one. So cutting him now doesn’t do any good. If it was a “weekly decision” salary wise, I would feel much better about keeping him for now just to give the young ones time and make sure we are healthy. Then make a decision after the bye week. But i think we are already screwed. Which is the point. 

   At the very least it could have cancelled out Kalil’s cap hit of 4.9M next year. No big deal.

Probably, but players have cleared the protocol in a week, so it is possible for him to play on Sunday. We'll know  Saturday, that's his last chance to clear the last test.

I'm trying to figure out how? Did he get kicked in the head while he was down or but heads with his assignment? Hasn't he had a concussion every year the past three years or so? He might need to be evaluated further. Hope it's minor and he gets healthy quick.

He changed numbers and developed some foot speed.   If you pause this at the :04 second mark, you can see Ron on the sideline smiling and clapping for him.
