Is it time for Gauldin??

Maybe Gauldin can go out and get some work when we're up by 24 or so. If the game's within two TDs and we have to go to a back-up safety, I'm choosing Jones and his experience. Plus, he is nowhere near as bad as you're making him out to be. He's been a solid second stringer and role player.

Agree to disagree.. I've seen Colin for years and he isn't good.. If he was we wouldn't keep bringing in barging basement Safties .. We would just pay him his barging basement salary to do the job..

Galuden is way better coverage player than Jones at anytime.. So the only thing Jones has going for him is experience which can easily be negated with playing time..

Man coverage? Yes. Discipline, Play recognition, Zone coverage, and situational awareness.... not yet. You should watch Gaulden in g3/g4 of the preseason and then revisit how you feel.

That's called game playing experience.. Jones can't do that poo now and he's been in the league how long now?? I've seen Jones for 5 years now .. My feelings won't change that he can't do the job.

Or practice? It's week 2 of the season, we have zero reason to throw him out there and feed him to the wolves. We all know what happens to players who lose their confidence. Coach's are bringing him along slowly, he is new to the role, position, and team. We have no reason to rush him,. We are 1-0 and field a top 3 defense.

We did it to Jackson and Bradberry.. Again this is only a discussion because Sercy keeps getting nicked up.. If its Sercy vs Gauldin then hold the rookie out.. If its Jones vs Gauldin then play the rookie.. There is no upside watching Jones fug up like he has proven over his 4 to 5 years he will do.. Atleast when Gauldin fugs up we know it's because he is a rookie..

Dude, like it or not, Jones is the better option than a rookie CB that just switched to safety this offseason. There's a reason why spectators watch and coaches coach.

No I don't have to like it or agree.. Jones isn't the better option and he has shown it for 5 years now.. If Jones is a better option for a team who hasn't shown a interest  in having great safety play in 5 years.. Then why is he now when you have a 3rd round pick who needs playing time ....Let's also remember Ron thinks Amini is a starter in this league .. So his opinion can be questioned..

We had no choice with Bradberry and Jackson.... Also, both of them played well in role during camp. Gaulden has not. We are in win now mode, and playing with the idea of rushing someone's development is not a good idea.

We are in win now mode and Jones is the best option??. Hahahahaha..

If we were in total win now mode.. There are Safties on the street better then Sercy, Jones, and Gauldin.. We can sign Reid or Mitchell now if win now is this team strategy...

All this love for Jones let's me know you dude haven't watch poo in 5 years.. Let alone Sunday when Dak ran his ass over for the 2 point conversion..

Sure let's start a rookie with less than 10 weeks experience at their NEW position. Good idea.

Also, dude.... their names are spelled "Gaulden" and "Searcy"

You mean bargain, right?

I didn't say he was good, I said he was a second stringer. That's better than you or I will ever play the game, but he's certainly not a star. He is right where he should be on the depth chart, and that's not a bad thing. And yes, he did get run over by Prescott, but at least he was in position to be, unlike a rookie who might be watching the grandstand monitors, ordering a hot dog or trying to cover some guy sitting on the Cowboy's bench.

Look, Rivera knows more about the game and player evaluation than you, I or anyone on this board. He isn't keeping favorites on the team just to slight "hidden gem star rookies". He also probably isn't the guy sending Jones out there, that would be the decision of the DC and position coaches on the sideline based on need and play call. This isn't a high school football movie where the bumbling coach yells "Send in Doofensmirch" and everyone goes, "No! Not Doofensmirch!!!!!"

Really, they send in the best guy they've got available that could do the task. If Gauldin was ready, they'd send him in. Right now, though, Gauldin doesn't have enough of the coaching staff's confidence to get the nod. In the semi-immortal words of Ric Flair, "To be the Man, you've got to beat the Man" or at least "the Jones" at this point.

Blah blah robot poo... "Don't question the teams decision making because they always make the right decision " bullshit statement..

Plain and simple no matter how much time this staff has as football evaluators.. They or no one is above making mistakes in judgment or being questioned.. Belichick has 5 superbowl rings and ppl still questioned his choice of not playing his pro bowl cb in the Superbowl..

History and this team action has proven my opinion valid.. Sooooooo.....

Not saying you do but Colin has experience over Gaulden and would be counted on to make far less mistakes. If safety was a priority for this team we wouldn't have sat on our hands while a plethora of options were out there in the offseason. Now OL is a much more prioritized position than safety with the Williams injury and Amini out there trying to get our QB killed. Jones has had some decent moments. He's not a starter but he is serviceable depth which is what you want. If they wanted a superstar we would have gone after Earl Thomas.
