On Cam Newton's two deep incompletions...

Really, the only thing being overblown here is your defense of Cam. No one is attacking him here. They’re just saying it’s something worth keeping an eye on at the moment.

Bill in his tweet says as quoted:

Still concerned about Cam Newton’s deep ball. Haven’t seen him hit on those since before shoulder surgery. Had a valid excuse last year.

This implies there shouldn't be an excuse this year. And if we're arguing word play and verbiage, I can make a counter-point that Bill right here implies that Cam shouldn't have excuses for the throws he's missed in the offseason and regular season.

That does sound more like an implication towards saying Cam's deep ball should be great and him not hitting it takes him down a few levels as a passing QB since he doesn't have anymore excuses.

I just made a post to defend Cam Newton based on comments and other articles implying that Cam's accuracy is an issue. I just think using week one and these two plays as evidence is lazy. I also think context with new receivers and OC should be considered.

Either way, this didn't need to be this difficult imo. I have overblown this as much as Voth has in his tweet. All I'm doing is providing an alternative perspective on the play he was alluding to and others on other articles.

As far as the riot report itself, I don't have much against anything they've said. My primary issue is with Voth's tweet and other articles.

And once again, I like Bill Voth. Genuinely like reading some of his articles and tweets. He's a great beat reporter.

That doesn't mean I can't or won't have any opinions on some of his takes I may disagree with. In this case, it's Cam. And yes, he does have a history of being a contrarian for Cam. Some justified, some excessive. I just gave my thoughts on the matter like he has.

I mean, sure. If you expect Cam to be perfect there, that could've been completed. However, it is by no means an easy throw and I can guarantee only 1-2 QBs in the NFL right now would've made it.

That window was very tight and small. I can't put that as a huge knock on Cam when it's a very high level of difficulty type spot.

I think only Brees and Rodgers could make that throw. And maybe not even Brees. That ball went 35 yards through the air. Maybe in his prime Brees could accurately make that throw but now that he's pushing 40? Nah fam. Brady sure couldn't. He's a dink and dunk QB.

Might as well just trade Cam, and get Whitey McWhiterson in here to play quarterback so these fickle Panthers fans remember what the 2010 days actually looked like.

It amazes me to this day that the attitude to which you are referring still exists.

Yeah it's a small window by all accounts and a hard throw. Any QB/coach/player would likely say the same.

I am not a Cam hater and am probably his biggest fan, but I have to be honest.  It does seem to me that he doesn't have as much power on his throws since the surgery.    It may actually help him with his accuracy because he used to throw too hard even on short throws, but I have definitely noticed less spiral, especially on the deep ball over the last year or so.

I'm gonna disagree with this, only because of how he was throwing the ball against the saints last year.  Those passes that he was throwing to Clay(the TD that was dropped and the one on the sideline towards the end of the game) showed great arm strength.  Norv is prob coaching him to take something off of his throws..

I hope you're right.
