Looked pretty damn good in the playoff game  vs new orleams

And the longest pass of the game from him was a 56 yard TD to CMC...that was about a 7 yard little crossing route that McCaffrey took to the house.  Next longest passes were in the low 20 yard range, soooooo again, deep ball?

my complaint about the O after one game? Same complaint I had last year.

Did we even take one vertical shot all game? I can't remember taking one.

Even if you don't hit it.  There is no excuse IMO for not having speed on the outside and tossing one deep to put the opposing D on check.

Dallas had tight coverage and good rush all game. I think we played small ball and it worked. I was most disappointed in McCaffrey because he still goes down after light contact.

An incomplete pass. For the record, I think Cam put it where Funch could've adjusted and got it...but even rewatching the play, Buck talks about Funch & Bell both overrunning it. 40 yard pass, Cam left it (arguably) short...unless we're thinking he leaves a jump ball short in the endzone and on the back shoulder of Bell where he's hoping Funchess realizes all of this on a 40 yard pass and circles back to make the catch. Funch did a poor job adjusting to an average ball.

Again, he could still hit a deep ball every now and then...but it's not consistent anymore.  I mean, Voth's tweet even says he doesn't hit them in practice.  Really doubt Voth would be trying to stir the pot, and instead is simply stating a fact that we can pretend doesn't exist if we want...but it seems true. It's not necessarily a bad thing...honestly I'd see it as a positive if it forces Cam to take the shorter passes and let his playmakers work the open field.

Deep ball to Funchess in Atlanta loss was in stride.

Its not gonna be consistent when the oline is not consistent imo. Most times they are scared to take shots down field because the oline does not hold up for guys to get downfield most times.

Plus Cam never lit things on fire in practice/training camp to be honest. We'll see.

One reason why our passing game didn’t put up big numbers was because of the rain. I don’t think people realize this.

also some other things to consider:

1: it’s the first game, you have to work out the kinks

2: once we were ahead 16-0 we basically just ran the ball to take time off the clock.

3: dallas is a running team, they take a lot of time off the clock as well. So it’s hard to put up good offensive numbers when both teams are constantly running and taking time off the clock. That means less snaps and less passing opportunities.

4. Dallas actually has a good defense. They were ranked 8th in yards last year. They have one of the best defensive ends, a good defensive line and pretty good but underrated secondary.

5. No Curtis Samuel. Samuel is our #2-3 WR. He is a home run hitter and has shown he can run routes well. He is a guy who creates YAC. Not having him did hurt some.

Also I think DJ Moore has been over hyped by a lot of people on this board. Everyone is saying he is going to be so great and be the OROTY. I just don’t see it. DJ Moore has talent but he is raw. He has to learn to run routes, he didn’t run many different routes in college so he is going to have to learn. I think he will have a Devin Funchess like rookie season. I’m predicting 400 yards and a few TDs. I think he will start putting up most of his catches near the second half of the season.

We have more talent and experience at WR so it is going to be hard for DJ to get reps when everyone is healthy.

The whole emphasis of last year and this offseason has been for cam to get the ball out faster and more short high completion passes instead of being so aggressive and taking the deep shots so I'd think it's  more that than cam not having the arm strength now. He didn't complete the long pass to mccaffery because he overthrew him not underthrew him...speaks more to timing than arm strength at least imo

Again, that was a good Dallas defense. The secondary is young and talented, that defensive line is stacked, and their backers are ok. Combined with our o-line issues, it wasn't the game to showcase our outside talent. It could have easily gone the way of the Bears game last year if we just kept trying to force the ball down the field. Luckily Norv isn't an idiot and we ran the correct plays for the situation.

I'd really like to see Smith get a deep shot when there is just 1 high safety to see what we can do.  Had a few opportunities on Sunday to do that against Dallas but never really tried it.  Want to see if his speed is still there and is a factor.

To me I saw clear differences from last year. Yall were screaming at Shula for not being able to game plan around pass rushes and long developing routes....so yesterday with a patch work oline we avoid those long developing routes(although we did take a few shots when they were there) and play around dallas' very strong front 7 and great pass rush. Sounds like our new OC had a game plan, took what the defense gave us, and won us a game with a 65% completion rate from Newton.THAT WAS LITERALLY OUR GOAL FOR THIS OFFENSE LAST YEAR. If Mcaffrey didn't fumble on the goal line this game looks worlds differently anyways..... In years past Newton would have been dead after this game. I don't post here often but some of yall kill me

Right! "Cam needs to stop always forcing the deep ball , get his completion percentage up to mid 60's and take his check downs and take what the D is giving him and our oc needs to scheme our line not being to protect long enough for those deep shots" the minute that happens " We're not calling enough deep passes and Cam's accuracy on deep routes is gone now"...literally can't win with some people
