Honestly I love the fact that Cam wasn't forcing anything deep.  There is something to be said for a 65% completion rate and no turnovers, especially in a close game like that.

I suspect the Cowboys defense is a lot better than people think.  I'm giving it a few weeks before I have any concerns about our WR's.

This attitude is not permitted on the inter web.

Please refrain and immediately start jumping to conclusions.

You both must be forgetting about Cam overthrowing both Funchess and CMC on deep, wide-open shots. I think this is more a rhythm issue than anything else. Give it another week or two.

My only concern is that OL. It's literally going to make or break us this year.

yeah, that actually is my point.

The rare times Cam Newton goes deep...dates back to other years.  Look who is throwing to.  A tiny RB and essentially a TE.   That isn't stretching the field.

That is not stretching and threatening an opposing D's coverage and how they play the routes.   We probably took a shot to KB going vertical last year too.

I hear you. But our primary deep threats are a rookie and an oft-injured 3rd year who didn't play this game. I guess we have Byrd too and I'm not sure why he wasn't used, but given the circumstances, I think CMC was a great option for a deep pass.

We also had no offensive protection for half the game. Cam didn't have more than 3 seconds to throw and that's just not enough for a well-oiled deep game. I think Norv knew that and just didn't call deep plays

You mean the play where both Smith and Funchess ran into the same area lol.

my complaint about the O after one game? Same complaint I had last year.

Did we even take one vertical shot all game? I can't remember taking one.

Even if you don't hit it.  There is no excuse IMO for not having speed on the outside and tossing one deep to put the opposing D on check.

Norv better adjust like he was talking about or he is gonna get run out of town by week 8 :eyeroll:

Fromwhat I saw still throwing deep passes to they weong guys. Funchess is not going to cut it and CmC i sont know if he has any timing with him on deep balls. He didnt throw anyin preseason so i think he has no chemistry with these guys on deep balls. I was hoping Byrd would interchange with Smith but that did not happen.

Gonna do a thread on both of those, but neither were bad throws.

First one was a miscommunication that led to Funchess running the wrong route. Cam threw it where Funchess was supposed to end up at. Aikman went on about that and how he knew Norv must be fuming. Cam was yelling right at Funchess afterwards I believe.

Second one was a hard throw period to make. CMC may look open on the second one, but the safety up top made it a very small window. Near impossible to complete tbh.

I'm not worried whatsoever like Voth is about Cam's deep ball accuracy.

Cam's deep ball looked a little off yesterday. He had Funchess once deep that would have been a TD had he hit him in stride.

Not sure why we didn't load one up to Smith for at minimum a PI call.

Getting Samuel back will help as he seems to be the best at getting open

Voth tweeted about it yesterday, but the dirty little secret is that Cam's deep ball accuracy hasn't been good since he injured his shoulder.  I can't remember the last time he hit a guy in stride going downfield 40-50 yards.  WRs may have been part of the issue...but seriously, we haven't seen Cam throw a nice deep ball since Ginn, have we?

I thought Cam looked awesome.  He took what the defense gave him, was accurate mostly all day.  He fit some darts into some really tight windows. Ran like a beast.  Dallas has a really really strong defense.  They need to hang their hat on that this season.

Yeah, Aikman was hating hard on the perfect throw to Wright and Funch as they went to the ground. I was looking at the TV puzzled like, "Why would he throw it into coverage?" Those were some good catches and fantastic throws.
