Yea we are passing to him...the problem is most the time they are at the wrong times. Jake seems to only goes to the screen when he has time to throw and no one is open. Then, the Zone co verage doesn;t allow williams to get anywhere.

Yet when he is blitzed, he sits there trying to make a play, and we all see the delhomme-classic 'back turned to the defender' hit coming on Jake a mile away, this is usually when Jake get another fumble. I understand blitzing usually means man to man so passing play seems logical, but we all know how much teams love to blitz Jake, who can't scramble worth a crap and is pretty much a no threat passing it. Even going to the ground he is looking for a pass. Soon as he sees the blitz he should dump it to the screen, and give Williams some running room. If we did that every time instead of trying to squeeze in a big play a when a team blitzed, it would discourage the blitz tremendously.

If you watch Brady or Warner (non scramblers) you'll see that most the time, if a blitz is coming they will dump it off as soon as they see it.

Jake should be throwing to the backs half a dozen times a game on a check downs as a 3rd or 4th read. They don't need to be designed plays. That's what Pro QBs do. (Are supposed to do)

We seem good a bashing Jake because he gives reason to, he makes it easy for us. And you seem quite good at defending him. What is the difference between a Stewart fumble at the five yard line and a Jake interception/bad throw?

One keeps happening over and over and over again...and then some more. Mistakes happen, Stewart made a mistake, where as Jake mistakes seem to have a consistency. Delhomme also has A LOT more experience than Stewart. Williams had trouble getting in the end zone, but he more than makes up for his mistakes, EASILY. Now days, Jake doesn't

Exactly! He's already getting passes thrown to him. It's not a new idea. He even lined up wide last Sunday a couple of times.

We have yet to get that "big" play this season, I think if you get him the ball more in open space then maybe we will start seeing some of those big plays

Reception stats can be deceiving. Williams is the best player on this team when in space, and Davidson does not make enough of an attempt to get him the ball more.

This offense should not be mostly about getting Steve Smith the ball in space anymore. It should be getting Williams the ball.

Well, wouldn't you expect the starting WR's and TE's to catch more passes? That's kind of what they're there for. And when was the last time you saw a screen to Williams or Stewart get big yardage? The problem is that they're not working when they run them.

Actually it is about down and distance, yards per catch, first down catches as well as targets and receptions.

We mostly use Williams as a relief valve or third down threat. He is catching a high percentage of his balls because he is getting short passes thrown to him. Of those 13 catches he is averaging around 9 yards per catch. He also has 8 first down in those 13 catches which is pretty good.

Against Tampa he rushed 30 times and caught 2 passes. Add in Stewart's 17 rushes and between the 2 of them they touched the ball on 49 plays. We only ran 65 plays. So 75% of the offense went through the 2 of them. Exactly how much more could we feature the 2 of them?? I begin to see why Smith is pissed.
