Jake Delhomme by the numbers: He's playing on a rookie level

Might want to get some updated stats. These are before his meltdown. I think he's around a 83 qb rating now in the playoffs and something like 8.17 yards per attempt.

Since he's been our starting QB,he's carried us to the same amount of title games as Peyton Manning has carried the Colts, only the Pats,Steelers, and Eagles, have been to more, and thats some good company. We have played in as many Superbowls since he's been starting as the Eagles and the Colts, which are good teams. He's 5-3 as a playoff starter, thats pretty good for a greasy chicken, hit him in the biscuits quarterback, who when he finished his college career was ranked 22nd all time in pass yards in NCAA history at the time

And this is just pure proof stats don't mean squat. Tell me when Jake got in the playoffs without a 100 yard per game rusher (hell, he had 2 last year)? You can't just look at how far teams have gone and who was on the team, but WHY they went as far as they did. Manning probably led the colts, where as Jake followed Smith, and the running backs. Not to mention Jake has always had a solid defense.

Not many quarterbacks get into the playoffs without a good running game and go very far, does John Elway ring a bell? You have been watching football for how many weeks now?

While that may be true, there are plenty of playoff QBs that could do without the running game and not solely rely on it completely to win play off games. Jake not so much...did you see the Arizona game last year when we tried to throw it? In my opinion it would be a absolute nightmare to see Jake play a play off game with no running backs.

Oh yea and the Cardinals went the the Super Bowl last year with pretty much ZERO running game. It's called west coast offense, and A LOT of teams have great success with it. Jake is not that kind of QB.

Been watching football for a long time now, I am a huge panther fan, but I don't let it cloud my judgment of a player...comparing Jake to Manning with stats to say they are comparable is ridiculous.

Thats all Jake's work except for one win and one lost by Kerry

That is where you and I disagree.

It is the defense (especially the 02 year), running backs and Smith's flexibility that got us that In my opinion.

However most of that percentage is made up of the games that led us to the super bowl in which case I will say Jake had an incredible year and could actually throw the ball, that year gives you a glimpse of the panthers with a QB who can throw AND backs who can run.

But once again this was PRE TJ surgery... it is almost safe to say Jake would have been awesome had he not had to have it...as of now we won't really know but things are heading that way...

I totally agree since we did not have Jake during the 02 season!

I meant the 03 season, as you probably already knew. For those watching the Panthers, we had a feeling we were going to get Dellhome a long time before we did, more like 99-00, when FOX was looking at him with Giants, then he was all of a sudden in Carolina. And when we got him I think most of us knew he was going to be kicking Pete out of his spot. I don't really keep up with the years/seasons, but more of the progress of the players/team.

I am not saying he is a horrible quarterback and if you look at his stats before the surgery he was obviously headed into being an awesome QB.

But as I am saying, it doesn't matter what Jake was - things change- there has been a surgery that directly effects the throwing arm of a QB, a surgery in which no QB before persevered, it will effect him negatively... but in what degree is what we are finding out.

So the fact we 5th in playoff winning percentage doesn't mean much to you?Thats all Jake's work except for one win and one lost by Kerry

Is that fact going to help him stop throwing the ball to the other team? If not then it doesn't mean squat to me. Stop calling it Jake's work. The Carolina Panthers are 5th. We were 1-3 in games we actually asked Jake to throw the ball over 30 times in the playoffs.

We had a feeling we were getting a player we barely knew,by a coach we didn't have, who was a defensive coach, not a scout or an Gm whose job was running a defense at where he was working?Yeah,I buy that.If you like the Panthers work on spelling the starting quarterbacks name while you are at it

We (as panther fans) didn't know anything, we were reading news which is all speculated. Fox was scouting Dellhome (even though he isn't technically a scout, which you don't have to be), while the panthers were watching Fox. No body knew where they were headed, but I know once Fox got here people should have known. I am not asking you to buy anything I have been going to games since that 1-15 season before fox got here, cheering for my panthers as I always have and will.

I am a panther fan and support all other panther fans but I know not all fans are like me, know your just in this to argue for some odd reason. I am not really worried about spelling or grammar police or the boogie monster for that matter so I think I'm good.
