Florence...

This aint good bros.  Those of us in the Myrtle to Wilm area might be in for some deep trouble.  Possibly worse than Floyd, Fran, Bonnie, and Bertha.  I had the eye of all of them go over my head but this one has me really concerned.  It has the potential to change the landscape.  Hope and pray something pushes it away or greatly weakens it before landfall.  Forget 3 days supplies - better get ready for a week or 2 at least on your own.

Dr Jeff Masters from weather underground says there is a decent chance it will hit the coast some where and stall out or just meander around wreaking havoc and dumping massive rains.  If you haven't read this guys stuff and want to know what is really going on without the weather channel hype look here

Yep, now government predicts it will stall right at Wilmington as Category 5 and will sit there until weakens to tropic storm.... Wilmington is f’d if this happens... Ventusky model says outer banks will get smashed, Hurricane will hang around for a day and will go back into the ocean. Zero effect for Charlotte.

If she shifts about 25 miles east once she makes landfall, it looks to be almost the exact path Fran took. But, Florence is looking stronger and slower moving.

I hit up the grocery store and gas station yesterday morning. Even here, bottled water is already gone.

I remember Fran vividly. It was almost apocalyptic. I was only 15 at the time, but we lost power for a week, had a thirteen foot wide and ten foot deep hole wash out across our entire road, closing it for months in that section. We lost and had to clean up hundreds of trees on family property. I was working my first job at a grocery store at the time and they lost power for a week as well, and had to tank all the frozen/refrigerated goods.

All this was almost 2 hours inland, mind you. Just south of Raleigh.

Hopefully power crews are making rounds this week and clearing lines.

Thankfully, the ground isn't as wet right now as when Fran came through. But, there'll still be lots of downed trees and lost power for a while.

I can't imagine being at ground zero on the coast. All you folks down there stay safe. If possible, I'd say just gtfo by Wednesday evening.
