Who to Root For - Week 1

Dallas @ Carolina: Cowboys, duh. /Sarcasm

Atlanta @ Philadelphia: Eagles

Cincinnati @ Indianapolis: Bengals, would help our SOS/SOV if needed.

Buffalo @ Baltimore: Ravens, SOS/SOV.

Tampa @ New Orleans: Bucs, since NOLA is more of a threat in the division.

Houston @ New England: push (but fug Bellicheck)

San Francisco @ Minnesota: SF, need Minny to take losses. Week 1 against an upstart 49er team is a trap game.

Tennessee @ Miami: push. I don't see how this one effects our postseason.

Jacksonville @ New York Giants: Two ways you can look at this depending on how much of a threat you view the Giants to be. 1) Giants, for our SOS/SOV. 2) Jags, to give the Giants a loss and set them back in the wild card race.

Pittsburgh @ Cleveland: push. But I'm cheering for the Browns.

Kansas City @ LA Chargers: push.

Washington @ Arizona: Washington, for SOS/SOV.

Seattle @ Denver: Two ways you can look at this depending on how much of a threat you view the Seahawks to be. 1) Seahawks, for our SOS/SOV. 2) Broncos, to give the Seahawks a loss and set them back in the wild card race. Personally: fug the Broncos. I ain't scurrd of the Rainy City Bitch Pigeons.

Chicago @ Green Bay Bears, to set the Packers back in the standings for seeding purposes.

New York Jets @ Detroit: Two ways you can look at this depending on how much of a threat you view the Lions to be. 1) Lions, for our SOS/SOV. 2) Jets, to give the Lions a loss and set them back in the wild card race.

LA Rams @ Oakland: pretty safe bet that the Rams are gonna be good so best to pull for the AFC team here. Raiders.

Lemme know what y'all think!

Not even in the stratosphere of debate in week 1-AFC over NFC EVERY time!!!  We have no clue in this league how things will unfold but history has taught us 1) teams will surprise/come out of nowhere, and 2) SOS/SOV is rarely even a factor at the end of the day, certainly less than other NFC teams surprising/becoming an unexpected nuisance.

Probably should root for every AFC team playing an NFC team this week (and the entire season) to increase our odds of getting a wildcard if needed

You're both absolutely right. That's why I included two options for those situations. IF someone cared about SOS/SOV, they could logically pull for an NFC team over an AFC team. Especially poor NFC teams that won't challenge for wild card spots

The only issue with this is the parody in today's NFL from year to year.  In week 1 with exactly 1 game played thus far, we have no clue who those "poor NFC teams" are just yet.

In summary: AFC over NFC 100%

I agree. But my response is simple:

and yet there are always poor teams, and we can usually predict who they'll be
