I mean Charlotte is pretty much on the border with South Carolina. If the team was located in Raleigh or Greensboro, maybe I could see the whole two states thing being a bit cheesy. But you can literally see Charlotte from SC on a clear day.

It’s a PR and business move. South Carolina doesn’t have a demographic area capable of supporting an NFL team. And with Charlotte being that close to SC, it makes sense. I’d venture most upstate SC people are Panther fans. I’m not a big fan of it personally but it makes sense.

It's not the Charlotte Panthers, it's not the North Carolina Panthers, and it's not the South Carolina Panthers.  It's the Carolina Panthers for a reason.  To draw a fan base from a geographical area.  It's business and I don't mind it.  In fact I like the logo, although I'd like it better without the "One Carolina" tag. Seems like it's making an issue where there is no issue.  The answer to a fan base problem is simple to solve.  Just win.
