I honestly think Heinicke will be a solid back up for the Panthers. He knows Norvs system and I honestly believe he has enough talent to be a decent NFL QB.

 

I never understood why Cook was given so much hype. I never saw anything special in his college career that would make him a top qb of the draft yet he was considered one of the best QBs of that draft by many.

Cook was a guy I liked a lot when he came into the league but he hasn't put it together.  Granted, he hasn't been in the league all that long and he was with the Raiders.

On the flip side, the Patriots are working out Kenjon Barner.

There's never any harm working out a guy and having a look. Pretty sure he has practice squad eligibility left too.

I happen to have seen that game cook played. One Word Abysmal.  Rather have Anderson back.

Trying to stay away from the tinderbox, so I'm not commenting on anything other that skill level here. Kaepernick is definitely good enough to be a quality back up in the NFL. I think that Heineke is as well, but haven't seen enough of him yet to say he's as good as Kaep.

If that is the case why hasn't he signed with a few of the teams that offered a back-up contract to him.

Aaaaand... The Panthers signed Cook and released Jeremiah Sirles with an injury settlement.
