The team is expecting a record number of visiting fans for a home opener on Sunday

... My tickets in lower bowl were $97 five years ago. For this game it’s around $190 a ticket.

I will be there cheering them on Sunday but I can’t blame people that sell them.

My tickets (row 1 upper level) were $64 in 2012 now $118.   In addition to the regular price increases what added to the cost was the gimmick of making pre-season games cheaper and the new tax the state added several years ago.  That equals close to $20 more per ticket of the cost per regular season game.  The pre-season gimmick was while they made those cheaper they added the cost to the regular games.  For the PSL owner we paid the same total cost for all as we did prior to the change .. it was those buying single games that got hurt since they shifted the cost to those.  Then of course the tax being added which also goes up as prices go up because its a % of the price.

All this makes it harder for any fan to buy single game tickets because many are priced out or simply choose to not spend ~$240 plus (on the low end) for two people to go to a game.  It's easier for me to stomach the cost because I look at it as buying the entire season.

I guess I should save my ire for the PSL system itself more than the PSL owners then?

Yes you should

to keep my seats, I had the initial investment, and every year, another 5200 dollars, should they make playoffs, that’s more

...and oh yeah, during the down years, Weinke and Clausen come to mind, guess what, it’s still 5200 and I can’t give them away

it is also the reason the stadium is sold out and gams are on tv

i tried selling my tickets on this very board for face price when I could not attend, no takers

best of all, after 20 years of support, if they move to another stadium, I’m out

I blame the for profit PSL owners. The stadium should be policed. And a PSL should be revoked if you never use your seats and only sell to opposing fans. There are plenty of people who would buy your PSL and actually go to games.

You are mistaken.  People talk and that’s all they do

Yep. Easy to say at the start of the season and when expectations and excitement is high.

When the team starts 1-5, PSL owners are still left with the bill on tickets nobody wants. And nobody feels sorry for you and the individual financial loss you incur on a team going nowhere.

I get the frustration, and I hate the fact that opposing team fans are so prevalent at certain games. It is annoying for sure, and it's way worse for a Panthers fan actually at the game than the image it portrays on TV.

But it really does come down to economics, not sentiment. Having a full stadium regardless is better for the team and the individual PSL owner.

I say this as someone who used to feel the same way. And I will be there Sunday and did not sell my tickets even though I could have made upwards of $500.

Ultimately, it's not as simple as fans being disloyal. Going to a NFL game is super expensive. Then extrapolate that by 8 games.

If you can sell tickets for one game and pay for half the season, who can blame you? It does suck, but I won't blame the individual bc I know how big the financial commitment is.

This right here is one of he biggest reasons why I don't think there is a new stadium any time soon.  First, even with all the games "sold out" due to PSLs there is rarely a full stadium at plenty of games (even during good seasons) with lots of empty seats because there is not even a big enough fan base willing to pay for and buy single game tickets from those who want to sell them.  I am also in the same boat as you that there is no way I would buy another PSL especially cause it would cost an arm and a leg to get the same or similar location as my current seats.    There is just not going to be the fan base to buy PSLs and support for a new stadium to fill up on game days.  It would be worse in a new stadium.

ALSO.. our current stadium is still very nice, great location, with plenty of club level seats and suites.

To be honest, I never really cared if some teams fill up BOA. I thought the Packers fans were reasonable and had a good football IQ...the opposite for Saints/Eagle fans. Since the PSL owners (businesses/individual) have forked out $ for seats for every game- including pre season, I find it hard to blame them.

But more importantly there is nothing more gratifying than an half empty stadium with just Panthers fans in the 4th quarter...Sometimes its best to look into the eyes of the visiting fans and see them tear up and leave those $250 seats early...so we can move up and enjoy them.
