I would like to talk about this Matt Kalil situation

Who ran free agency and the draft that year?

Who ran free agency and the draft for last season?

Hint: It was the same guy.

At this point, you've presented a logic that suggests Gettleman doesn't deserve credit for a season three years into his tenure, while Marty Hurney deserves credit for a season where he was hired in July.

I guess in "your world" Marty Hurney drafted Christian McCaffrey, Curtis Samuel and Taylor Moton, or at the very least he deserves the credit for it... somehow.

You should really cut bait at this point, dude. It's embarrassing.

And Moton and Samuel had what kind of impact on last year's team? Also remind me of the impact free agents on last year's team, was it Matt Kalil?

If I'm going to give DG credit for last year it's because of guys like Funches, Lotulelei, Short, Bradberry, Norwell, etc... not for guys who didn't even play. Get a grip lol.

Now if I do that, doesn't that mean I have to give credit to Hurney for 2013 since the impact players were his?

You are going simply by the draft and free agency, neither of which had a bearing on last season.

Maybe you can fill me in on a little knowledge...

Who signed Big Money to his extension?

How many years did it take us to get out from under that ball and chain?

Thanks!

Fill me in on this.

Who has recorded the second most sacks in team history and who graded out as one of the worst LT's in the league last year.

This is not an argument you want to take on.

Draft and free agency now have no bearing on a season?

There's this guy named McCaffrey. You might have heard of him.

And again, Hurney wasn't even employed by the team in 2013. He wasn't employed for almost the entire  2017 offseason either. The fact that you still seem to think you can form some parallel between those two seasons tells me you're not grasping reality.

Seriously dude, give it up. You're just making it worse.

See, this is the route people always go when they're losing this argument.

Once again, give me a better metric to judge GM's by than winning or just admit you don't have an answer. Your choice...

You head is so bloated that you'd rather be right about who was a better GM rather than the inconsistency of the franchise.

Winning is the metric and one GM was average and the other was below average...

Are you satisfied with average? If so, make sure you cheer for the Cowboys this weekend.

One further question...

Who drafted the guy who's replacing him right now?

Except somehow, the below average GM gets credit for whatever success the "average" GM had, whether its three seasons in or one where he was only hired in July.

Oy...

Bud, are you lost? I explicitly said last year's free agent class and draft class had no bearing on last season. No where does that imply that to be the case every time. That explicitly means that LAST YEAR... LAST YEAR... LAST YEAR (hopefully you got it)... Outside of McCaffrey, not one player acquire through the draft or through free agency was responsible for the success of the team.

Now, I'm waiting for you to state which players made an impact that were acquired in the draft and free agency last year. I already stated McCaffrey did.

If I give DG credit for last year it's because of players he drafted previously that made an impact. Not Curtis Samuel and Taylor Moton who had no impact.

If we give him credit because of Funchess, because of Star, because of Short... Then why does Hurney not get credit for 2013 when 75% of the roster was his.

Your arguement is asinine.

So you want a discount last year's draft and free agency...okay.

Remind me, who ran the draft and free agency for the previous four years before that?

I'd like to hear your argument on how Hurney deserves credit for those players too.

After that, reconcile how the 2013 team significantly improved the record over the 2012 team with zero input from Marty.

every one is making a lot of assumptions with the occurence of Matt Kalil, his contract, staying in Carolina etc.

The only thing we know for a fact in hindsight is that Dave Gettlemen made a really bad choice to deal out the crazy contract to a guy that only survived as long as he did in Minnesota because of being a high first round pick and sharing a probowlers last name,.... The facts are that there are serious negative cap repercussions for cutting him in the next 2 seasons,.

Otherwise its all speculation, why this and why that,.. whether the old Mad King Jerry made everyone keep him around, or whatever.

The fact is we are stuck with him unless he retires, or he gets hurt and takes an injury settlement.  No one can force the man to do anything.

I will say this.

Players keep bitching about wanting more control, cost of yearly cap raises added into their contracts(Rodgers) etc.

But I dont see any players being ok having contracts that allow for lowering their salaries and bonuses for poor play-- performance contracts basically.

Oh well.
