I would like to talk about this Matt Kalil situation

What does, DG wasn't the GM last season scream?

Keep trying bud. You are picking and choosing which season goes with who. It's pathetic and reaching.

See above.

And remind me, when was Marty hired again?

How much of the roster was already built by that point?

Adding it still makes him an average GM as Scot continues to give last season to DG.

We had two winning season and two losing seasons with DG, the definition of average. It's pretty explicit.

So Gettleman doesn’t get credit for his 15-1 season because of Hurney players but you’re seriously going to credit last year to Hurney? That hilarious! Keep writing your own rules

Pretty laughable, isn't it?

Something tells me he wasn't on his high school debate team.

It is quite unfortunate how this situation has turned out. It continues to prove how challenging it is for 1, to get a good LT, and 2, keep them.

Kalil is a very capable player. He definitely struggled last season, and I was really wanting to see him flourish this year. The NFL (not for long) rule has bitten. Injuries have never been good to us on years that the team is loaded.

That being said, the reality is the story of him isn't done yet. We have him, and I'm sure that the coaches will continue to get the most of him, unless his knee just doesn't recover.

You grade them based on whether the teams they put together win games or not.

Is that really a difficult thing to understand?

And dude, when you're trying everything possible to discount the best season in team history, calling somebody else an apologist looks pretty dumb.

Oh so okay, so the 2013 season does belong to Hurney since he put that team together? Geeze make up your mind dude... If you straddle the fence any harder you're going to rip your pants.

You could compromise and agree to go with what this site says, but I don't think you'd like it...

Kalil's $55M contract is far and away the largest contract Gettleman handed out and if JR gave him (DG) the go ahead to get rid of Steve Smith, there is little to no substance in the assumption that DG was forced into signing Kalil.

Maybe you can fill me in on a little knowledge...

Who signed Big Money to his extension?

How many years did it take us to get out from under that ball and chain?

Thanks!

Who ran free agency and the draft that year?

Who ran free agency and the draft for last season?

Hint: It was the same guy.

At this point, you've presented a logic that suggests Gettleman doesn't deserve credit for a season three years into his tenure, while Marty Hurney deserves credit for a season where he was hired in July.

I guess in "your world" Marty Hurney drafted Christian McCaffrey, Curtis Samuel and Taylor Moton, or at the very least he deserves the credit for it... somehow.

You should really cut bait at this point, dude. It's embarrassing.

Clearly you weren't either as your reading comprehension skills didn't develop pass elementary school.

I never have nor have I ever inferred that Hurney was an average GM. I've stated numerous times in this thread that both GM's were average player evaluators and average salary cap managers.

You're using winning percentage to argue that DG was a great GM but in four seasons he had two winning seasons and two losing seasons. He brought in some solid talent but at the end of the day so did Hurney.

In my opinion neither were capable GM's and our lack of consistency shows that.

If DG is your boy go join the Giants board and take Toomer with you.

I'll support the current GM and hope for the best as so far he's done an adequate job.

See, this is the route people always go when they're losing this argument.

Once again, give me a better metric to judge GM's by than winning or just admit you don't have an answer. Your choice...
