Fisher wears a Colts jersey "to feel like a winner"

You are right, I just think people take this team allegiance stuff waaaaay to srsly.

These guys are mercenary freaks that gladiator up for 3 hours on a Sunday for our amusement and to escape reality for awhile.

Nothing more.

Perspective.

I prefer to save my indignation for what the freaks in DC do with my cash.

If a paycheck and job security won't motivate a professional player, having your coach pull a bush league stunt like this certainly won't.

My respect for Fisher just went out the window.

My take is quite the opposite, actually. When these football players start getting PAID big time money, I think it makes it that much harder to motivate them because they're going to get paid anyway, win, lose or draw. Much like Singletary when called his team out last season, their play changed 180 degrees. Do you think he brought up the players salaries? Their supposed job security? No, I doubt that. These are professionals, but don't forget they're football players and likely have been football players since their high school days... from 16 years old and on, they've had hard ass coaches (for the most part) calling them pussies and telling them to man up. Now that they're professionals, they should be coddled and treated with kid gloves? No thank you, sir.

It's one thing for players to say "it's our responsibility." Quite another for a coach to say "I'm okay, but my players are losers." Fair or not, that's how this comes off.

From the ownership side, I seriously doubt Jerry Richardson would find something like this funny. Bud Adams? Unknown at this point.

I put this one in the same category as some of David Carr's awful attempts at humor.

well here's where we disagree then, cause I have no problem with how Singletary called out his players. He did it like a man and didn't mince words about it. And I also did not say anything about coddling the players.

I think pulling a stunt like Fisher did is throwing in the towel. If my HC did the exact same thing in the exact same manner I would be worried about his judgement in particular and for his mental health in general.

And the fact that it is Fisher is what strikes me as odd because he is a top notch coach who even if the Titans go winless nobody would be surprised if he kept his job.

"It was for a very, very worthwhile cause, charity," Fisher said on his show, according to The Tennessean. "I was introducing Tony, just having fun with it and I really apologize if I offended anybody, but if you're offended over the nature of that type of thing, then I think you need to rethink things.

"This is a very worthwhile and needy benefit and I was honored to be there. … I'm sorry if I offended anybody but if I had to do it again, I would do it again."
