Cant catand the reason why TE was such a big need this offseason.  And why we got Thomas.

 

Yet we bring him back on meaning we have to cut someone useful so he can sit and warmup the bench.

At least based on what I've read, that doesn't seem likely either.

Heck, I've seen some speculation that he could even reclaim his starting job once he's healthy.

I'm okay with that.  I'd just like a better option than Manhertz. And I really hate the thought that activating him now could cost us someone else.

I'm pretty sure we're gonna use the IR designated to return on Williams. He has to be on the roster for 24 hours before we IR him though. If we keep Amini too, then that means we are kicking 2 other lineman off the team while we already have Matt Kalil and Sirles who are both suffering from injuries already. Keeping Amini makes zero sense. I hope Rivera doesn't put loyalty over actually putting together the best roster possible, but his past judgments don't leave me hopeful. If the worse actually does happen, I want Rivera out.

Tight end Chris Manhertz passed his physical on Friday and has been moved to the Panthers active roster from the active/physically unable to perform list. He will be the third TE behind Greg Olsen and rookie Ian Thomas.

Gotta love when Rivera plays favorites and when "his guys" don't even need to practice or play any preseason games in order to have a spot on the team.
