I wouldn't be worried about staying in Fourth Ward.  It's a city, you're going to have sketch balls anywhere.  If  you're that worried, Uber everywhere as mentioned above.

Stay in plazamidwood... go eat at La Bon the night before...after dinner have some drinks right around the corner at Thomas street - strongest pour in town.  Hit Sol Gastro Lounge for a night cap.  Or go to resident culture and have a good time.   Game day take an Uber 5 min to tailgate.  Stop at bojangles on Monroe Rd on the way.  Winner.  

Downtown is  Chadville on a Saturday night.   Pop that collar and bathe in axe body spray... you’ll fit right in.

I wouldn’t not stay in 4th ward for fear of crime... I would avoid it b/c that part of town sucks.

The Fourth Ward is perfect for what you doing. It's been a nice area since I first moved to clt in 99.

Both 1st and 4th wards near 277 can be dangerous at night.  Some crazy crimes happen there like huge gun fight on gravel parking lot across UNCC where over 100 shots were fired during one fight or 4th ward where few people got shot off Tryon near 277 this year.

I mean literally across the street is some of the worst crime areas in any city.  I have seen it all down there...even broad daylight.  Anyone saying different isn't seeing things clearly.  Driving home avoiding traffic down in that area can get you in a pickle quick.

Yeah..I've been hungover driving around down there looking for 277 or even Graham and saw some shet going down.  Spidey sense went way up down in there.
