The Saints traded for Bridgewater

That's the narrative, but go back and look at his numbers as a starter. That narrative is inaccurate. He's a mediocre dink amd dunk game manager. He never threw for more than 14 TDs in a season.

His ceiling is Chad Pennington.

Which is fine, Chad Pennington had a nice career. But nobody feared Chad Pennington.

Saints did the same thing with Peterson and yall laughed because it was such a "terrible move" by them lol.

For years it's been yall will be terrible when Drew retires. Finally have a replacement and it was a bad move too lol.

Uh... Peterson rushed for a whopping 81 yards for you guys. It WAS a terrible move.

Replacement for Brees? You guys traded a 3rd for a mediocre QB with a mangled knee who is only signed for this year. Opposing teams certainly hope this is their idea of a replacement for a surefire future HOF QB.

The dude is 39 years old and hasn't been using voodoo supplements like Brady has. It's entirely possible that we finally see a huge dropoff from him this year that leads to him retiring after the season. That's how things used to go as recently as 2015 with Peyton Manning in a game I'll spare you the details of. He's had shoulder issues, foot issues, at least a couple of concussions...he does not have long left.

It was a tongue in cheek comment.

Give Loomis credit though, now they have an excellent backup QB that can operate the offense in case Drew goes down.

Exactly.  They are all in this year.  They already traded next year's 1st rounder.  This isn't primarily about Teddy's future with the team  This is about this year.  They have pieces in place to make a run, just like last year.  Teddy isn't Brees by any stretch, but he can certainly keep the train moving if called upon.

I am going to get so drunk the day Drew retires.

@saintsforlifeagain  who are you guys thinking will be cut/restructured to pay for this?  Is a contract extension with TB the plan?  Doesn't sound good for Ingram.

Not sure, but I'd almost guarantee that an extension with Bridgewater is probably worked out. I never worry about the cap lol. Loomis does what he wants.

Seriously, what a steal.

Teddy has looked great this pre season, a really solid move.

No no no. Trading for a 25 year old QB who made the Pro Bowl in his second season is a terrible move. I've read it right here on Teh Huddle.

Seriously though, we drafted Garret Grayson in the 3rd and I'm not even sure if that dudes in the league. QBs don't grow on trees. This was a huge move for the Saints.

yeah but this is a tough call...if he wants starting QB money long term, we're talking 20 mill per year at least.  Has Drew told the Saint's this is his last year?  I don't think even Loomis could work out a 2019 season where the QBs are getting 60 mill.

If you want to watch him this year before a long term, I could see cutting Klein or someone to make the numbers work (if his money isn't guaranteed) but ...this is going to take some serious cap voo doo...I understand all in this year, but this....umm

I think its a dam good move for them

Only issue and thing that would scare me is where is he going to squeeze into yalls cap Space the next few years until Bree's retires.  He's not going to be cheap.  He11 Mike Glennon got 3 years 45 Mil last year by the Bears, and Bridgewater is better than him

You may have to cut a key role players and not resign Ingram just to be able to hold onto him.  And with no 1st and 3rds, that limits you to the wnd to fill that hole lost cutting someone

Pasting from another thread. Reason: wrong thread.

Does anyone here think the trade has something to do with the fact the saints play us twice a year? With teddy’s Insight of norvs offense?

of course he is a quality backup, but he also provides competitive intel.

lol and here comes the huddle to talk about the Saints and their cap space problems for the 10th consecutive year in a row.

How many more years of the Saints maneuvering around the cap will it take for you guys to realize that it’s actually possible to work around the cap?
