Let's be real...OBJ is worth about 15 million.  12 if we're being honest and taking into account the position. That said, Sammy Watkins, who was also mentioned getting 16, should be worth 8. Contracts might eventually re-set themselves if the league does ever actually start to falter, but the constant climbing is just going to continue making the cap rise and salaries get crazy, position be damned. Percentage of the cap means more than the salaries anyway.

Also...Cam's next contract?  Yeah, bank on 35 million.

Actually this post brings up a subtle point, which is the transition between a players actually physical playable ability, and their persona/personality/off the field this or that.

I know ppl are gonna hate on me for saying it ( and I am used to it),,,but looking strictly at Cams play as a QB, he was not really "worth" the numbers he got. BUT, Cam brings something extra that most QB;s cant. Physical ability, and a swag personality. Those two X factors contribute to his "worth" outside of his ability to make accurate throws under pressure.

OBJ is the same. People will say he is not really that much better than the other top 10 recievers in the league. BUt...the guy has a personality. His antics with Norman, hitting himself wit the kicking goal, and all that other mess just add a little something to his name and makes people interested in him. Some his fans...many interested to see him fail, or fug up again...but ALL of that goes into the contract a player gets.

If Cam had the same numbers, but the personality of Derick Anderson..do you think he would have gotten the same contract?

Same with OBJ. Great or not...people lok at him! THAT makes him worth the contract

My my personal opinion of Odell is that he’s a drama queen. I don’t like him. Yes I’m biased based on that. But I don’t think he’s that great either. What is the metric you are using to determine that he’s a top wr in the league?

I know he’s a “star.” But that’s because the media really pushed his one handed catch as something amazing. Sure it was good, but we’ve seen Olsen and others make great 1 handed catches. Olsen made nfl history. I would bet that if the media went to gushing over him like they gush over that girly boy Olsen would be just as popular if not more so.

has Odell made history? Is he even a top 10 receiver?

are receivers worth more than top tier linebackers?

Remember. The media is powerful. It elects presidents and controls narratives. I don’t trust any “star” from the TV set.

You can use any metric used for receivers to determine he's a top receiver.

Yes. Yes.

In todays game? Probably.

i think he's the biggest international star because he has the personality of a flashy whiny soccer star.  that's what the world is used to.   that's what it seems to like outside this country.   i guess we like it too, but not so much in football.  im thinking wrestling, and how weird it is that people like that.

im not sure receivers are worth all that money (to me).   it doesn't seem to relate to titles.

Well deserved and a smart move by the Giants. With the way the salary cap is going up, it's always smart to retain your young star talent, even if you have to pay a bit more than you like. If they are truly great, it'll be a bargain contract in 2-3 years (like Cam , Kuechly and KK are for us now).

All skill in the world but a drama queen that will be more of a distraction than team foundation.

He couldve been a distraction and skipped Ota and the offseason like Mack and Donald but he wanted to be a leader and show he was healthy.

Metrics, fug metrics. Odell stats show he's on pace to do things no other wr has down at such an early point in their career. Stop arguing with fools bro. But here's to Thomas breaking odells contract

All I know is that I saw him drop balls in the playoffs, take a whizz on the field and head butt Norman. The guys a dick

You can be high on Watkins and still admit OBJ at $19>>>>>>Sammy at $16.

OBJ is a transcendent receiver when on the field.

Key Word.... WHEN

Seems to be off the field far more than on it.

Sucks to pay a guy so much money to be the lead cheerleader on the sidelines.
