Scroll about halfway down and you'll see this from a guy named roque72 that almost made me tear up:

"I know Carolina is overloaded with receivers and will have to cut some good young guys we can take"

BB and crew are watching like a hawk as always to get our players that will be cut or on waivers.

It’s true. Mose Frazier has actually looked good and god forbid we do something like cut Byrd. I can only imagine how well Byrd would do there.

Was just about to post this.  Yeah, we can't cut Byrd. He'd get signed by another team. Several teams are needy at WR.

More and more I think we start with only 2 TE in the 53 to make room for 6 WR even with extra guys on OL.

Frazier is definitely someone I could see getting picked up.

I don't even want to imagine Damiere Byrd in a Patriots jersey. God forbid we cut him, I think he would be subject to going through waivers and would be claimed well before the Pats had a chance.

Nah, we start with three HB's instead of four like last year to make room.

Manhertz, or a someone else will be the 3rd TE.

I see CAP as a surprise cut, move Hood to the PS as ''traditional back'' insurance (5'11, 230) and have Barner and his ability behind CMC, and CJ.

I agree with you about RBs (Barner over CAP), but I wonder if Manhertz will stay on PUP to free up roster spot early in season, then come back week 6?

Since he's had an injury, he could conceivably be an "ouch, my finger" IR designation if they wanted. Maybe even a "designated to return" if they feel he's worth that.

He's still on the PUP. It's different than IR. If he starts the season on the PUP he can be brought back in 6 weeks. In the meantime he wouldn't count against the 53 - not even on Day 1. Nor does he count against the 2 designated to return spots on the IR. I think it's a huge win for roster flexibility.

With Armah I think we can keep only 2 TE on 53 with 1 on PS.

    • I'm not religious. I don't care that he is. It has no impact on whether or not he will succeed as a head coach in the NFL. If he doesn't work out here so be it. I'm not wasting keystrokes going off on tangents about his personal life. If I were that deeply invested to that point I wouldn't even be following sports at all. Clearly for whatever reason you do as the previous threads you have created eviscerating Dave Canales over that and his personal life would clearly indicate. But that's your prerogative.
    • The approach we took to build the WR room is one I will always be miffed by. I’ve never liked our draft choices and it always leaves me feeling uneasy (even back to LaFell/Gettis/Armanti). I loved Pearsall and Ladd, but those just aren’t types we target for some reason. RB wise - Just seeing what Bucky Irving has done this year with guys Canales’ built his offense around last year, is enough to really make the RB approach seem questionable.  If we were unsure about Chuba preseason, then we should’ve gotten a guy who could’ve played immediately. If we were confident in Chuba, then we should’ve targeted a Ray Davis, Irving, Tracy, Guerendo etc a bit later and reserve the R2 capital for a potential long term starter.  The reasoning doesn’t entirely check out even though I love Brooks as a prospect.  I dunno, just still feels off. Same taste I got with the Horn pick. Same with bringing back Hurney. Just a big old ick.
