The Carolina Panthers have spent the last year revamping its receiving corps, trying to assemble a mix of versatile skill sets around franchise quarterback Cam Newton. Whether it was trading away former go-to target Kelvin Benjamin, using its first-round selection on DJ Moore, trading for Torrey Smith or signing Jairus Wright, there has been a clear emphasis from Carolina’s brass to improve the position group.

But the receiver who is turning heads and carving out a role for the Panthers is 2017 second-round pick Curtis Samuel who battled injuries throughout his rookie season and made very little impact. Entering year two of his career, Samuel appears primed to flip the script.

i’ll continue to say this.

Curtis Samuel is the most talented receiver on the roster. We could well see him as our WR1 down the line.

I'm starting to believe this because he possesses every trait to be an elite WR if he catches everything that comes his way his YAC ability based off his speed and agility seems like a dynamic number one WR

I hope we have a team full of WR 2/3s

we are going to spread the ball out to various weapons via mismatches. We have several guys with very high upside and have the ability to put up huge numbers

but expect to have those numbers tapered down as targets get spread around and we win games

itll help our salary cap too without a guys numbers exploding

That’s nice.  I hope he really breaks out.  On the huddle he is portrayed as a five year injury prone vet who should’ve been cut years ago.  He has had one year, which included a hamstring and a freak ankle injury.  The kid wrecked shop at OSU.

I hear you man, I have heard "Made of glass" "Injury prone" so many times when people on the forum talk about him, its absolutely ridiculous.  Dude had some terrible luck his rookie year and was sidelined almost the entire season.  Calling him injury prone as if he was a 5 year vet is just insane.  You would think he was peddling on the bike like Jstew was for 10 seasons the way people talk about how he is ALWAYS injured.

Gotta admit, his development has been a pleasant surprise.  I wasn't one of his detractors after last season, but I certainly wasn't expecting this much of a jump in year 2,  I thought he was just in better physical shape, and by camp reports he'd be at best an occasional deep threat this year.

But man he's looked real good. He made Stephone Gillmore look silly Friday (as an aside, I really want to shout out Devin who also played really solid against Gilmore Friday, it's really refreshing to know we have two promising WRs while Moore develops.) and he looks like he's gonna be a handful to cover. I can see him being a Ginn with a much higher ceiling, and if he continues to do this on Sundays he and Cam will develop a repertoire real quick.
