To Torrey, or not to Torrey

I think we need to look elsewhere as far as cutting... I like T Smith and think he should stay along with Byrd.

Byrd could be a playmaker for years to come. He knows the playbook in and out by now. He has elite speed. Torrey is a vet and will keep that speed for one or 2 more years.

Barner or Ben Jacobs can go before either of them.

Funchess was basically the last man standing injury wise last year... he was BARELY standing too. We need depth. People are realllllly high on Samuel this year but he is best at short/medium routes. Torrey Smith/Byrd are really the only "centerfielders" we have where cam can launch one and they pick it up and burn the DBs and torch everyone left. Thats hard to replace and a big part of our offensive. Steve Smith, Teddy Ginn, T smith, Byrd are really the only players Carolina has had that can do that.

Do I think Torrey Smith should play every snap? No. I think Panthers have had a problem of keeping people on the bench and letting one player take the wear and tear all game. All those WRs should touch the field for more than one play.

Its good to have 2 young talents Samuel and Byrd and have veteran players that have the same play style. Jarius Wright is like Samuel but tougher, grittier and could help mentor that mindset. Torrey has played against the best and I'm sure has great insight for a speed guy like Byrd. Similar build.. skinny dude. Torrey isn't bullying his way past press like Byrd and could teach him a few things.

We can't forget Josh Norman said the hardest Carolina WR to cover was Byrd.

Anyway.. morale of the story we can't afford to lose either this year. They would get picked up for sure.

I am in agreedance with everything you said. I want all 6wrs and wish Frazier could be stashed somehow.

When Hurney grabbed this guy, it was before we had Moore and we didn't know whether Samuel would shine.  He designed the contract to be shopped if necessary.   We can use the depth at WR (we should still keep Byrd) or use the contract as capital for a trade.  I'm fine with him staying, I'm fine with him being traded for the right Oline help.

Rivera said at the combine he wanted to add a veteran presence to the WR group.  Hurney went out and got Torrey Smith.  Smith stays plain and simple. Also,  Hurney didn’t re-structure his contract at all, whatsoever! It is the same deal he signed with the Eagles.  So to people are paying any attention, all your subsequent points are empty rhetoric because you’ve lost credibility.  It is like a barber in 2012 telling me they cut Deangelo Williams after the draft because everyone was talking above his head and he wanted to have something to say.

Okay, I'm just saying don't be shocked if he only has 400-500 yards while catching half of the balls thrown his direction.

Yes, Ginn revitalized his career here with a QB who was equipped to help him do what he did best - go deep. I'll think that last year wasn't a fluke for him in terms of catch rate if he repeats it. He'd never shown hands like that ever before.

I'm thinking his impact will be more Cotchery than Ginn.  Hope I'm pleasantly surprised.

Rachel, I know in your eyes, everything is left-right politics.

The reality is some people like the player because they like the player.

I fully expect a political troll like you to turd and argue with anyone who says anything remotely bad about Torrey.

You project your political motivations on everyone around you.  Since your motivations are always political...everyone else's must be too.  Sadly you are mistaken.

I feel sorry for the people in your life who have to deal with you.

Your football anyalsis isn’t so much though.

Panthers keeping Torrey & Byrd the team is going 6 deep at receiving Corp.

Good catch.  Hurney didn't design the contract to be shopped.  The Eagles designed the contract to shopped...and shop they did.

Torrey is gonna take the  Panthers to his favorite Jeweler to get that SB ring. Dude is gonna be worth it big time in the Playoffs.

Why are you always badmouthing this man? Your continued overly negative tone about him wouldn't have anything to do with something off the field would it? It isn't difficult to spot.

As is the cause of the opposite love-affair-for-no-reason.

Not difficult to spot.

At all.
