Who has been most underwhelming?

Seriously, this is better answered by the coaches. They can see the total picture while we see snippets.

The only player that I can even begin to say has underwhelmed is Seymour, but that's largely based upon a bad preseason game. But, even with that, I still don't know his entire performance during camp within the coaches' context.

It will be Searcy or Mayo for me. Last game, Mayo looked like he was in his first preseason, taking bad angles, being looked off by the backup QB, and missing tackles.

searcy is supposed to be a veteran, but I’ve heard zero out of camp about him being a leader, or stepping up for the rooks. Also, that lowering the head penalty, was poor example of a veteran. Just my two cents.

Mayo may be feeling the heat from guys like Carter coming in and impressing. His spot probably isn't in jeopardy but definitely looks like we may have cheaper options moving forward as he heads into a contract year.

It’s been 2 preseason games and a bunch of training camp at this point... whose your most underperforming player?

I’ll go with Torrey Smith. I haven’t heard a peap out of him from practice updates or during the preseason games. I think his skillset is already duplicated and would have 0 problem cutting him and keeping Byrd while only keeping 5 WR on the roster.

I see this, but maybe Norv is focused on the short passing game with Cam.

CAP and CJ what are their snaps. Last game CAP played well with what was given. I don't think he will solely be judged by the first 2 preseason games. The only threat I see is Barner, Hood I believe will be PS. All 3 yrs of been good in preseason and when given opportunity to play in real games did good that will not be overlooked by Rivera. Playing in real games and not suspect 2s and 3s. But who knows we have different OC. CAP and Bryd are good players who just haven't had the opportunity to display their value much.

Smith is looking good too--more of a MLB than Carter, but I get your point.  Mayo is our Klein--will move on when done if not traded for a 7th or something.

I would like to see:

  1. Davis
  2. Luke
  3. Shaq
  4. Carter
  5. Smith
  6. Norris
  7. Mayo

If you say anyone in our secondary is underwhelming, wtf were your expectations? But yeah it's Torrey Smith and no Cam to Samuel or Moore. Anderson is being underutilized too.

I don't really think the word "underutilized" should ever be used when referring to preseason games.....especially in reference to individuals who will play a large/important role on the team come regular season.

But hey, in your defense, the question is kind of silly to start with......b/c preseason vs. regular season is definitely not an apples to apples comparison.  In other words, calling anyone underwhelming before at least a couple regular season games is pointless/not an accurate assessment of a players abilities or lack thereof.

You can't really call out the WRs because the play calling for the first team has been mostly runs or passes to CMC. I'd like to see DJ get some more targets and Samuel playing with the ones. We already know Wright is as advertised and Smith was targeted once I think on a comeback that he caught (from what I can remember). I'd say the pass rush in general with the first team. I wanna see Brady on his ass a few times.
