Who has been most underwhelming?

It’s been 2 preseason games and a bunch of training camp at this point... whose your most underperforming player?

I’ll go with Torrey Smith. I haven’t heard a peap out of him from practice updates or during the preseason games. I think his skillset is already duplicated and would have 0 problem cutting him and keeping Byrd while only keeping 5 WR on the roster.

I wouldn’t put too much into that

olsen has been quiet as well just as a comparison.

Smith is our only true deep threat who fills Ginn's old shoes to just run straight down the field by the DBs... Neither Byrd or Samuel can fill that role right now for us.

Honestly to me no one has been that underwhelming... Can't think of anyone. Maybe Searcy before his injury but I didn't expect a lot out of him anyways so don't think he counts. All the rookies and other FA additions have played as I expected them to. No returning player has stood out to me as underwhelming.

I will skip Kalil (too obvoius) and say Butler.  This is flat out his year or bust.

They haven't underwhelmed to me. Kalil is exactly as has been expected and Butler has flashed more this year so far than in years past...

If Byrd was spectacular from here on out, he'd get a spot, but it wouldn't be Smith's. They'd just keep 6 WRs. Smith is a lock and I doubt they view him as being in a position battle.

Funchess

Year 4, been with the team the longest out of the group, contract season, expected to be the #1 WR

But really hasnt put himself out ahead of really any of the WRs in camp.

All of Donte Jacksons highlights from camp have been on Funchess.

According to KBFans thread, Torrey's barely been targeted this pre season.

Yea, just checked and he has only 1 target, which was a catch for 12 yards the last game.

    • Panthers are clearly not worried about cap space so why are we?
    • Other than being the offseason and there isn't much to talk about, why does anyone worry about the cap? We can do whatever we want and still have cap space. You don't think the front office hasn't already figured it out and what they intend to do. Me I am just sitting back and watching. After all my job isn't on the line if we lose. Although at my age we don't have forever if I am going to live to see us play in another superbowl
    • I get the TD's and I pointed it out, but like I said, when Burrow had more than double the TD's than Geno had, I think Higgins increased TDs compared to DK was more a product of Burrow and the Bengals offense than because of him vs DK as WRs. When one of their QB's finished 4th in MVP voting despite missing the playoffs and the other was just traded for a late 3rd round pick and replaced by Sam Darnold, I think that's a tough narrative to brush aside to just look at raw stats as well. Again, swap DK and Higgins last year, do you honestly believe DK wouldn't have put up better stats than Higgins did? Contracts and trade compensation aside, I'm taking DK over Higgins 100 out of 100 times, there is no debate about it for me.
