What’s your solution to the tackle situation?

Really the only significant injury to the line is Daryl Williams. Amini and Matt didn't make a difference since they are so bad. If anything, we've improved since those two are down.

I can sympathize with their awful play but losing depth across the O-line is NEVER a good thing, regardless of how underperforming someone may be. It would be different if we are talking one position and you have guys like Norwell emerge but we are talking 3 positions right meow.

First of all there is no true solution for the tackle situation. never ceases to amaze me how many people thinks that good tackles grow on trees and are readily available. The truth of the matter is that any tackle that is available right now and or gets cut in the Final Cuts of preseason, ain't worth starting.

I can't think of anything that is going to be willing to trade off one of their starting tackles.

So the best that we can do is continue to add depth.

If we can trade for a quality OT right now, I say that it’s worth the draft capital. Starting quality OTs, especially LTs are too hard to come by and their value is worth spending a pick to get one if they can be here potentially for a few to several years.

I’d be willing to give up a 2nd rounder for a quality starting OT. We can’t let this be a lost season.

Sadly, it seems we’ll probably end up waiting for cuts or bargain shopping for some bodies with the hope that any little flash we see in a guy will end up being gold.

I don't have the exact numbers, but Matt retiring would increase his cap hit this year. We might have to cut or restructure people just to get under the cap.

Are you sure about that? I think that might be the case if it were a retirement prior to June 1 but I don't think that is the case now.

Making a panicked trade isn't likely to result in anything good. You pretty much laid out what the realistic options are. I hate to go there but it is what it is at this point.

Anytime a starter gets injured, the "trade for somebody" chorus starts up almost immediately.

Trades honestly shouldn't be thought of as solutions to short term problems. You trade for somebody, you're taking on contract and cap, and if it's for a starting level player that could be significant.

Trades are what you do when you're ready to make a multi-year investment in a particular player at a particular position, not what you do to fill a one year hole.
