Some things to keep in mind when it came to JR and his decision to fire GM:
-Marcus Ball still being on the roster during training camp after protesting
-Former players not liking him (89, JNo, DWill, Beason)
-Current players reportedly having issues during contract discussions (Olsen, TD)


JR very much had an image that he wanted the Panthers to abide by, success on the field be damned. Gettleman deserves the blame for Kalil's signing because his name is ultimately on the paper, but it isn't reasonable to dismiss the optics given the history. At the same time, regardless what JR wanted it was under Gettleman's name in the end so he is not without sin so to say.

I can't help but think that TD wouldn't have gotten 4M last season nor 2M this while Olsen might not be making 8.55M last season with the potential to make up to 10.05M this season. Maybe it would have allowed Norwell to stay, maybe not. We've got what we've got for now tho, so mind as well ride.

Richardson hired Dave and Hurney.  Both turned out to be bad for the team.  One is still here and shouldn't be.  Until all of JR's hand picked people are removed from this franchise it will never be a consistent winner.  The stinch still remains.

Gettleman made some terrible moves as GM and they are starting to really show. Sure he may have been good at cutting vets and saving money, but he sucked at drafting and signing free agents. I don’t really know how anyone can argue that at this point.

Lazy.

Oher fixed the LT position for the most part.  Freak career ending concussion.

Drafted Trai Turner.  Pro Bowler who we signed to a long term extension.  Known as one of the better G's in the league.

Drafted Williams, Pro Bowler, who we were in line to sign to a long term extension until he got hurt in camp.

Found Norwell on the scrap heap.  Pro Bowler, who we couldn't afford to sign to a long term contract.  One of the best G's in the league.

Drafted Moton, who is saving out bacon right now.

That's just on the O-line.

He did make a mistake with the Kalil signing and subsequent terrible contract...but that doesn't erase the above...especially with the very real possibility of JR whispering in his ear to do just that.

DG did a pretty good job on the O line, injuries, excellent play, and the cap has hampered us there.
