Talking Patriots Game - How long do you play Cam?

1 Quarter- let him get a few reps.  He has in my opinion been a little more off than preseasons in the past.  Nothing to worry about, but just need a few reps

Or 2 sacks- if he gets hit 2-3 times on dropbacks off the bat.  Pull him

Huh?  Hes completing 71% of his passes in these 2 games, and half of his incompletions have been drops.  He had one pick, other than that he has looked great to me.

How long do you play Cam Newton against a dirty Patriots team considering these two teams have a real distaste for one another?

Inquiring minds...

About a quarter if the offense is playing well otherwise first half.

He is, but much of that is from his checkdowns to CMC.

His few passes downfield, the timing or something has been a little off to Olsen and the WRs downfield

Well, thats going to be a large chunk of our new offense - and for good reason. Dump it off to CMC and DJ and let them do their thing.

SMH.

This is *exactly* what we've wanted from Cam for years!  Take the layup.  Currently, people simply drop off into coverage because they know Cam won't take the check down.  If Cam becomes a serious threat to check the ball down - to CMC no less - it will prevent opposing LB's from dropping as deep.  Subsequently, the intermediate and deep passes become more effective.

It will *also* slow down the pass rush, which is something we desperately need right now.

Cam establishing himself as a legit threat to check down or screen it out will only make our entire offense more effective.

This.

I know it's not as exciting to watch check downs. But patience. Getting this part of our offense established will pay rewards with big plays in the future, not least because it looks like we have some players who can turn dink and dunk stuff into BIG chunks.

It's almost like we have an offensive coordinator who knows how to set things up now . . .

Watching the offense move forward with regularity is very exciting to me. In fact, I prefer it to the big chunk plays because it shows dominance and consistency. That makes a defense give up faster than a big play. Crush your enemies. :)

I want to see how fast DJ can go on the field instead of the highway. Oh and actually catch a pass unlike last week. He was a no show and didn't like seeing that after how he looked the week before. Starters need to play at least two quarters and if they look horrible play three because we have to be ready for week 1 since this is last real game action till then since no one will be playing in last preseason game.

I've not seen Cam look quite this rusty in the preseason before. I think he needs to play up until after the first series in the third quarter. We really need to see how he performs against a pro team. And he needs to see how he does it. It's a transition between Cam the Celebrity and Cam the QB. Once he makes that, we're golden.

That being said, if they are coming at him hard and our line is giving no protection, yank him out of there. Warm ups or not, if injury is a probability then take the safe route.

Cam needs the work right now, but we need him for the season.

People keep saying Cam is looking off this preseason. I don't get what people are watching, but this is actually the best Cam has looked in ANY preseason. He's completing 71% of his passes and has looked sharper than usual this preseason. And don't give me that "checkdown" crap, Brady literally has won 5 superbowls doing just this.

As for how much Cam should play, I say first half only. If he starts talking shots because of our o-line earlier, take him out immediately. This dress rehearsal o-line is pretty much going to be our opening game o-line, so Cam needs at least a healthy amount of snaps with them.

Literally, what are you talking about? How can we watch the same games and have the exact opposite thinking? Cam has never looked more efficient. A few passes are off yes. But he's completing more than he ever has.
